Author's Note: I know this one is pretty short, don't be mad at me! Another chapter will be on its way very soon, I just wanted to get a quick update on where Luka's character is at in the story. Thanks everyone!

As always, please Vote and Comment! Nothing gives me more motivation to bust out some writing than seeing the love for my story from you guy's and your thoughts.

I read every single comment and they really do mean so much to me!

Luka's POV:

My eyes opened slowly as I groaned aloud. The sound off the hot engine ticking and steam fuming from the smashed vehicle components filled my ringing ears. My arms dangled down in front of me, and I quickly realized I was upside down.

The seat belt held me to the seat and was the only thing keeping me from dropping onto the top of the car that was apparently flipped during the crash. I released the belt, falling with a thud.

I pulled myself from the crumpled wreckage, taking caution not to cut myself on the shattered glass pieces that jetted out in all angles.

I knelt down, trying to gain my bearings on what had happened. I was driving; planning, and then...

"Aura..." Her name coming off my lips in a whisper.

Grief gripped at my chest all over again and the realization our bond had been severed.

Is she gone? I asked myself.

A muffled ringing noise amongst the hissing noise of leaking fumes dragged my attention back to my surroundings. The blue light of my phone illuminated somewhere in what used to be the back seats of my car.

I wedged the crumpled door open, reaching through tattered remnants till I found my phone.

"Hello?" I answered gruffly, pinching at the bridge of my nose to put pressure where the splitting headache was beginning to form.

"Alpha? Are you okay? I felt something over the pack bond!" Donovan spoke rapidly.

"Nah. I'm pretty banged up. I wrecked the car down the side of a mountain and the mountain won." I grumbled out. Donovan was silent for a moment before he breathed.

"Shit man... I'm getting in a can to come find you." He proclaimed.

"No... No. I'll shift and find my way to the closest town and figure out what I'm doing from there.

Reluctantly, he complied. I needed him there with my pack.

After hanging up the phone, I looked around. I was literally in the middle of nowhere. Some mountain pass that I was too preoccupied with finding my mate, that I hadn't bothered to read the road signs to know where I was stranded now.

I pushed myself up, limping to a stand. I was more hurt than I'd even realized. The pain flooded in when I started to take a few steps. Pain radiated through my left leg and all the way up through my pelvis. I knew something was broken, but I pushed through the pain, taking one more uneasy step diffidently.

I could already feel my rapid healing beginning to take place, healing the injuries that I'd acquired during the crash, but the one thing my healing would not touch was the aching pain in my chest and the throbbing in my head from the link to my mate shattering.

For a brief moment, I thought about going back.

Was there even a point in fighting to find her if she was dead? A hard lump formed in my throat, and I swallowed the uncomfortable emotions down.

No. I had to find her, although in my mind I knew that this search and rescue just turned into a body retrieval.
