He dragged me down a hall until we stopped for him to open a door. The door was conspicuous, and my subconscious screamed that I won't like what's on the other side. He led me into the dark room and shoved me forward. My heart was pounding fast when I stumbled and tripped onto a bed. Thankful that it caught my fall, I noticed how the bed was soft and welcoming. Not like the one I was tied to, but one that I could instantly fall asleep on.
The lights flickered on and Luka appeared in front of me. Suddenly, I wasn't thinking about the bed anymore, but instead, I was focussing on how nervous I was around him... How scared I was of him. He had to have seen it in my eyes, because hurt flashed over his face, but as quickly as it appeared, it was masked just as fast. The emotion that replaced it made me quiver back.
He looked down to my purple and cut knuckles. He let out an irritated growl, obviously not happy to see me bruised. Hmmmm. He stepped closer, reaching out to grab my hand. I flinched, scooting back quickly, staring at him wide eyed.
He didn't like that one bit. The rejection earned me a pissed off Luka. Another growl escaped his lips and he swiftly spun around, swinging his arm out at a lamp on his dresser. The lamp shattered on the floor, making a loud breaking sound. The noise startled me, making me jump and, regrettably, squeal from surprise.
Luka glanced over his shoulder at me, deeply sighing when he realized he was only scaring me further. "Why are you so damn afraid of me!?", he shouted. I stared at him in disbelief. Did he seriously believe I was going to run into his arms after he murdered my whole family?
"Why did you kill my entire pack?!", I retorted with an equal amount of venom. He stared blankly at me, but didn't try to defend himself. I scuffed, not impressed. He glared at me, stepping forward closer to me. "Sometimes an Alpha has to do what's best for his pack, whether it involves wiping out another or not." I was baffled at his lack of finesse while talking about murder. Murder of MY family! My life!
Sickened, I purposely averted my attention away from him, looking around the room instead. Trophies for football and wrestling hung around the room. An obvious jock no doubt. A picture caught my eyes. an intricate frame with a gorgeous girl in the center stared back at me. Her smile was contagious and I caught myself wanting to take part in her mysterious joy.
"Who is the girl?" before I could stop myself, the question popped out. I knew it was a mistake when his expression twisted with a million different emotions pasting his face. It was clear he didn't like the direction of the conversation. I'm not surprised to have irritated him though; I had a knack for pissing people off...
He took a deep breath, wary of his own feelings on the conversation. He was trying to rein in his facial expression, wary not to dissolve any unneeded information. "She was my sister." I gave him a strange look that clearly expressed my confusion. "was?"
He sighed heavily, again, running his thick fingers through his hair as if it were an action that would help him clear his mind. "Ya... Was... That's what war does... It takes things away...People away..." His confession made me confused and farther from knowing more about him. If anything, him giving me other complications to think about made it harder to wonder about his life.
