Steve was rambling on about how he single-handedly won the football game for their school during the Mega High School Tournament. "That final goal I scored was the reason we won," he boasted as they boarded the school bus.

Eva wasn't interested in his stories or his ego. She nodded and smiled every minute or so to seem engaged, even though she wasn't fully listening.

Eva also participated in the tournament. She played tennis, in which she excelled at, and won most of the rounds. And like others, a Saints student was her most tough opponent, Reena, her name was. She wanted to learn some techniques from Reena that she hadn't seen before, Eva looked forward to meeting her.

As she moved inside the bus, Eva looked around in the bus to search for Ron, her secret crush, she thought this trip might be her chance to finally tell him how she felt.

She finally spotted Ron, sitting in a window seat on her left side, she felt happy and panicked at the same time when she saw Ron was looking at her. She pulled her gaze away from him and moved to her seat. Her friends saved her a seat near them, she sat there after settling her bags in the overhead compartment.

After sitting and talking to her friends all she could think about was Ron and his dark black eyes, darker than his shadow. She glanced at him; he was leaned back in his seat and looking out of the window. The corners of her lip stretched, forming a tiny smile.

"When are you going to tell him?" Sia paused and then said," you know our final year in high school have ended, right?" Eva nodded. Sia continued,"This trip might be the last time you see him. If you both doesn't go to the same college, that is" Sia gave her an encouraging thud with her elbow.

Sia was Eva's best friend since middle school. Sia was like an elder sister to her. Beside Sia, in the window seat, sat Cassie, Eva's and Sia's best friend who they met at high school. Cassie had a playful manner and a positive nature.

Eva was well aware of the fact that she may be seeing Ron for the last time. She was also aware that Ron rejected every proposal he got. But Eva didn't want to lose the courage Sia gave her, so she brushed off the thoughts as she shook her head and joined the conversation her friends were having about their experience in the tournament and their excitement for the trip.

The bus that contained the thirty-eight students and five teachers of their school produced a sound, Eva thought that probably meant it was turning on, then started moving.

"The Saints school's students have arrived at the port, we better hurry up" their teacher, Ms Mereena, announced and glanced a look at the driver, who nodded with a smile, then changed the gear and kicked the accelerator down, then the bus sped up.

A weird thought entered Eva's mind, 'And that's how we began our life-changing journey.'
