📍Los Angeles, California:
New World High: School of the Gifted and Talented
"I'm not going." You gritted your teeth, nails sinking into your forearm. You could barely stand to look at your parents as you three all sat in the principal's office. You were furious.
"We weren't asking you." Your mother replied in a harsh tone.
You rolled your eyes, glaring off at a singular spot on the blue carpet. What was the point of this meeting? They thought they could get you to say yes and happily go along with their decision? Worst of all, they had to involve Principal Shanks?
What kind of bullshit was that? You weren't going to transfer to some sorcerer school in Japan and that's final. Your life was here in California with everyone else. You weren't about to break all the promises you made to your group.
Prom, senior trips, senior skip days, senior activities and everything good that came with the last school year of your life. You weren't about to miss it just because your parents had to travel overseas for their job. You were 18 and very well capable of taking care of yourself.
Your principal chuckled, he knew how stubborn you could be. "I say it's a great opportunity, Y/n. You'll be able to learn more about your roots and you can always come back for university."
You glanced up at him with interest. That was true. You can always come back for university and everyone planned to go to NWU. That could work.
"I guess that's true." You shrugged, of course you didn't want to give your parents the satisfaction. "But I'll only be gone for a year. I'll be back as soon as possible."
Shanks chuckled. "Of course! We'll be waiting for you."
With a satisfied smile, you got up and headed out the office with your parents in tow. Both of them going back and forth deciding if it was a good idea to involve Shanks in persuading you. Of course he was able to get you to go but only for a year. This ruined their plans of an arranged marriage with any of the powerful clans.
To them you were nothing but a pawn in their scheme to being part of the major Jujutsu families. Compared to most, their Jujutsu was mediocre since your mother's family fled Japan generations ago in disgrace. Your father's family was obsessed with Jujutsu which you never understood why.
So what better way than to have you marry into one of the major clans and bringing pride to the family. Of course your stubbornness was getting in the way of their plans. They had to find a way and fast, to get you to stay and agree to their plans but how? They were cursed with a stubborn daughter who challenged their authority any chance she gets.
"You're leaving?" Your ginger haired friend followed you around your room as you search for anything of importance that you wanted to take with you.
