"G-grandma? What's she got to do with anything?" When you looked over to Link, you saw that his hand almost instinctively reached for his sword at the mention of the Calamity.

"Quite a lot, young Hylian, but not as much as you may think," you stared at the deku tree as if it had two talking heads and not one. "What I can tell you to guide you on a path of your own making, is that your body is able to channel the magic of the goddesses. However, what forms they will take shape, is knowledge I am not privy to."

Magic of the goddesses... you remembered that strange golden glow when you pulled your sword to stab the enlarged arachnid. You remembered the same strange feeling again, when your body responded to the pure light of the master sword. But you never thought of it as much.

"Oho! Have you realised? Well then, I can tell you that you have found the gateway to Hylia's power of light, though, learning to use that power of your own volition is another question entirely."

You tried to instantly muster up some sort of light magic, though, it only ended up blinding both you and Link. "Gah! Too bright, too bright!" You forced your eyes closed in shock. "Yeah... practice would be good," you looked over at Link, who was still rubbing his eyes, "whoops, sorry."

The oak laughed heartily. You pouted. "Understanding these gifts will require a great deal of patience, young one, in time, you will learn to attune to their power."

With a small gust of wind brushing away the leaves on the grassy earth, the wooden guardian turned its gaze to Link. "Be wary of the approaching darkness. As young y/n's powers awaken, so does the shadow that has threatened this world continue to grow. Working together will act as a key to keeping the fate of Hyrule safe from evil's grasp."

Link nodded sincerely, lifting his head towards the deku tree. "I will. But I hope... I hope that defeating the Calamity once and for all will bring peace. To this era of Hyrule at least." The hero sighs tiredly, of the age-old fight against evil, and of the fact that the malice never truly disappeared. Link turned to you. "So, I guess you're not the average Hylian anymore - now involved in the making and breaking of fate," he paused. "Do you want to join me?" He trailed off, feeling that he had asked too much.

"I will! After all, I've gotten this involved already, y'know? And I can't just ignore the intentions of the goddesses," you laughed, honoured and curious... yet slightly bitter. "Plus, I'd be going back on my word - I can't do that!"

The man in the blue tunic looked at you with confusion. "Your word..?"

"Uh-huh, I said I couldn't just leave you on your own, so I'm going to help too!"  [Had to scroll back to find the exact words, lol.]

It made you smile to see Link sporting a cheerful (but still shocked) look of his own. "Well, we'd best be going then," he said, while saying goodbye's to the dozens of koroks that were partially disappointed to see you both leave so soon.

That would take a bit of time. While Link was trying to quieten the horde of koroks swarming around him, you decided to ask the deku tree a very important question that had been on your mind since you came to the fabled woods.

"I've been meaning to ask..."

"Shoot away." The wisened tree glanced at you with curiosity.

"In the grand scheme of things, it's probably not that important - but it is to me," you thought hard about what you wanted to say. "Are you an oak tree or a sakura [cherry blossom] tree? I'm sorry, but it's been on my mind for a crazy long time."

You heard a loud laugh that echoed through the many trees. "I did not expect you to say that! Truth be told, I have no clue myself. One day I was a mighty fine oak, the next, a blossoming spring tree. Today, I am a mix of both. I do feel that Hylia was having an odd day when she decided to grant me my new form." The deku tree's eyes glimmered with... mischief. "But that's a secret between you and me."
