It makes me happy when people read this work. Not because of my poor writing or anything, but because it means one more Zelda fan! I know it's a popular game series, but I've never been able to fangirl over it with anyone. And that's quite a lotta years of me keeping silent. It does suck that I haven't been able to find my kinda people - but that's enough dramatic monologuing from me! We've got our terrifying psychopath Ghirahim to do that for us, after all!
...also, I recently discovered just how easy writing on a laptop is rather than a phone (which is what I've been doing ^-^") BUT the laptop fan makes a loud enough whirring noise when cooling and I cannot have that happening in the middle of the night and waking up people.
I haven't SPaG checked yet, so please don't come after my soul just yet. I promise I'll fix that up before next week ;) (edit: I think it's done)
TW: injury and medical detail. May make you feel uncomfortable (because I did, anyway).
Your eyes could see nothing but black and blue dots spurting over your vision.
You felt so weak. So, utterly helpless.
Your sword was right there, but you remembered what happened the last time you tried to reach it: Ghirahim slid it ever so further away from your straining arm. So there was no point... in doing that, anyway. That dream wasn't just coincidence - no, it was showing you something - a warning of the future to come. Here it left you at the drop-off between two paths.
And now it was up to you to decide.
Brazenly, you wrapped an arm around Ghirahim's leg and flipped him off your body. You caught him off-guard - you could tell from his hissing intake of breath and his sudden disappearance, dispersing his body into black, glass-like fragments. They quickly reformed, further away from you and, in that time, you hurriedly gathered yourself and re-armed with your sword. Link was there beside you, and you could see that the master sword was glowing stronger than before, now that he had overcome his fear. The blue shimmering almost resembled pulsing - like a beating, living heart.
You noticed that the demon had finally decided to stop toying with you. His irises glowed a violent scarlet fury, and in his outstretched arm was a thin, black blade. Curved slightly towards the edge to inflict more pain when cutting into flesh. But you wouldn't let him get the drop on you anytime soon.
No way you would let that happen. This sadist had better places to be - like the deepest pits of hell, back where he belonged - away from innocent villages that he could burn down to the ground.
"And here I was thinking that I could give you a quick, mostly painless death if you obeyed me and uttered your sorry prayers in favour of your lord. In fact, I was considering making you my servant, y/n - can you believe it? Forgive you for every wrong you had done against me? Maybe if you killed that heroic dog, I would even reward you for your newfound loyalty." He smirked, but the mirth did not reach his crazed eyes, which displayed a cold and silent anger: waiting to break free.
Swiftly, Link ran forward and lunged his sword with full force, locking the hilt of his blade with Ghirahim's. The impact of the blow sent the demon back a step and your eyes flashed a faint sign of anticipation, briefly crumbled by the intensity mirrored in Ghirahim's parry.
Link stumbled backwards and swerved out of the way to avoid another counter-attacking blow, specifically aimed towards his torso. Though, the master sword continued to glow, like a beacon of light through the darkness. It really was the weapon that repelled evil. You could tell, by the way Ghirahim eyed the blade a little too anxiously whenever it came close to skimming the surface of his skin.
"You are just Hylia's pawn, fool." Ghirahim uttered. "You are just a toy for the gods to play their silly little games."
All his taunts flew past you and Link, as you danced heel-to-heel in a bloody battle of steel and spine.
