It was a beautiful morning, the sun was covering the beach in a nice, bright, warm light. His friends were working around, building or gardening. But he couldn't. He just couldn't get his mind off of his worst day in his life.

Most of the people understood that his pain was deeper than theirs, but some other people think he gets special treatment and treat him not as nice. But every time he closes his eyes all he sees is Teresa's face as she falls as the building collapses, he sees Newt's face as he falls to the ground, a knife in his heart. He sees the pain and guilt in Brenda's eyes as she was just seconds late with the cure that could've saved Newt. He remembers how broken Minho was after he lost his best friend, their best friend.

But when he finally falls asleep his dreams, more like nightmares, are haunted by Newt's face, his smile, his eyes, his bright, golden hair as the nice breeze makes it dance and his frustration as he tries to fix it. And when he forgets that it's a dream, it turns into something cruel. Newt dying all over again, thousands of different ways.

As he remembers his last nightmare, he reaches for his necklace, the last piece he has from Newt. Please Tommy. Please. He closes his eyes, trying to erase that picture, his eyes covered in black, tears falling down his face and his panic as he tries to give him the letter. He reads it every night. He thinks he almost memorized it.

He heared steps coming from behind him and as he turned he saw Brenda walking towards him. She gave him a weak smile and handed him some food. "You haven't eaten anything, Thomas."

He was tempted not to take the food, but he realized he was really hungry. "Thank you."

Thomas signaled the girl to stay next to him, on the bench he was sitting on, and she accepted, shyly. There was a brief, awkward silence before she started a conversation.

"So..." She begun, hesitantly. "I realized you spend a lot of time here."

He took his time to think about it. "Now that you said it, I never realized. I guess it's nice here, near the ocean."

She nodded. "It's nice." She shifted her feet, nervously. "Thomas, I wish it was someone else to have this talk to you, but Minho is busy and so is Gally, so Vince asked me to talk to you." Her nervousness made him nervous. When Brenda saw Thomas wasn't about to say anything, she continued. "Thomas, many people aren't pleased that they work as youay around and do nothing for most of the time. We tried to tell them you need more time, but they insist." She took a deep breath. "They say they want you to find a job around or they'll find a punishment for you. And Vince said that majority wins."

The boy looked at his friend, shock and pain in his deep brown eyes. He tried many times to help, he helped many times around, but sometimes he feels sick after a while, he feels dizzy and everything stops. "But.." he begun. "How many people agree with this?"

Brenda sighed. "Enough."

He felt all the food he aet coming back. He looked around their camp. Minho was on break, talking with Gally, separate from the others. He knew who those people were, he noticed their angry stares and whispers. "I'll talk to Minho, see what I can do to help him."

"Maybe, for today we could go in a walk, see if we find some herbs. Monique asked me to gather some as she takes care of Lauren's wound." (these are characters I made up) She said, a shy look on her face.

He thought for a bit and decided. "Sure."

They walked passed Minho and Gally and waved in their direction. They just nodded and Gally turned to Minho saying something that made him laugh.

"Mon told me exactly where to look." She said as she turned her head to him. "It won't take long."

They still have some important medicine in case something really bad happens, but Monique, the new medic decided it was best we use nature when we can. She said she worked years with herbs and knows exactly what and what not to use.

"That's good. I really want to talk with Minho about a job." She seemed disappointed at his answer, but Thomas didn't think much of it.

"There!" Brenda said and signaled to a patch of jagged leaves. "We can head back after this." She looked at the sky, a worried look on her face. "A storm might be close."

As they were collecting the leaves, the wind started blowing and the sky darkened even more. "Maybe those are enough." He said.

Suddenly a crack behind them spooked them and made them jump. "There isn't supposed to be anyone here."

"Maybe it's an animal."

Brenda shook her head. "I don't think so..."

Then, a deer made its appearance, but there was something weird about it. It had three heads and a weird looking body. Blood was coming out of his mouth and it's bright red eyes made it look even more scarier. Suddenly, the deer ran towards them, making weird but hungry noises. "RUN!" Thomas screamed.

The boy realized that he had no weapons on him, not even a knife, and Brenda didn't either. He almost tripped when he took a glance back and saw how fast the creature was, closing the distance between them. "Brenda, we have to run faster!"

When he saw the first hut he yelled for help and Vince and some others appeared from inside the dining hut. Luckily, one of them had a gun and was able to shot the creature. It made a terrible noise, so loud he thought his ears would fell off.

Monique ran from the medical hut, a worried look on her face. "Tell me you got what I need. L isn't doing so good." She looked desperately at Brenda, who was holding the bag where the leaves were.

He knew some of them flew during their run, but surely there were some left? As Brenda opened the bag he couldn't belive how many they lost. "Oh no..." Brenda said, her breathing short.

"It's enough for Lauren, but let's hope she doesn't get any worse." She took the bag, and Brenda and ran back to her hut.

Thomas suddenly felt eyes on him, many pairs of eyes. He lookes and Vince, who had a questioning look in his eyes. There were whispers, panicked mumbling and dirty look towards him. "Thomas." Vince said. "You have to tell me what happened.
