In the medicine hut Newt felt weird, being there, with Brenda and Thomas. He just found out that Brenda followed the path of a doctor. He always pictured her as a warrior, but there was something in the way he looked at him. He doesn't want to think it's true, but he could see envy, but relief too.

"The wound looks good, Newt." The doctor, Monique, said. "Who ever did the operation clearly was a doctor." Monique inspected his face. "Are you sure you don't remember anything?"

"He already told you that he doesn't." Thomas jumped in, an angry expression on his face.

You don't have to be rude, Tommy. Newt gave Thomas a disappointed look. "Yes, I don't remember anything."

He suddenly felt a weird sensation and he realized Thomas was staring at him, deep in thought. He would've felt uncomfortable if it was anyone else, but not with Thomas.

The doctor nodded. "Alright then. You can put your shirt back and note to come back every few days so I can check your wound." She then turned to Brenda. "Maybe you can help me next time. Practice help with learning quicker." At that, Brenda just nodded and looked at Thomas, anger flashed in her eyes but she turned her face away.

"Thank you." Was all Newt could say.

He walked out of the doctor's hut with Thomas, who was still deep in thought. "Do you wanna spend some time with me?" Newt said and then he realized how stupid that question was.

Thomas came back from his place and shot Newt a "are you serious" look. "Newt, that's all I want to do now that you're back." Newt wasn't sure, but he could see Thomas' cheeks changing color. Maybe it's the lightning.

They went to get a gun before heading for a place further from the camp. "Vince says we're not allowed to go out without at least a gun, especially at night." Thomas said. "And I wouldn't go against his word. Especially now." He added, hurt in his voice.

"What do you mean?" Newt asked as they sat down on the grass.

His friend sighed. "I guess I'm in trouble, kind of. I guess some people, most of the people, don't like the fact that I didn't do much around camp." Newt could see tears gathering in Thomas' eyes.

The golden haired boy places his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Why's that?"

Thomas let out a strange laugh. "I missed you too much, Newt." He said, letting a tear go down his face.

Newt's heart broke, seeing his friend like that. If only you know how much I missed you, Tommy. If only you know how much I want to tell you. But Newt refuses to break the friendship between them. He took the boy's face in his hand and moved it as to face him. He placed the other hand on his other cheek. "I'm here now, Tommy." He put a soft smile on as he wiped the tears away. "And I'm not leaving you. Not ever."

Thomas smiled, closing his eyes and leaning in Newt's touch. Suddenly, Newt felt his stomach do weird jumps and the urge to kiss him right there and then was stronger than ever. The way Thomas looked in the moonlight, the way his lips looked so soft. How he looked at him just five seconds ago was driving him insane. You just got your best friend back, don't ruin it. Newt told himself.

Then, suddenly, a weird noise was heard from behind them and Thomas broke out of the trance. "Newt, get behind me." Thomas searched the surroundings, the gun pointing everywhere.

A weird looking deer came out, leaving a green and red thing behind him. Thomas suddenly shot the creature, letting a weird scream out. His friend turned back to him, sweat dripping from his forehead. "Let's go back and let Vince know what happened." Thomas looked Newt deep in the eyes. "You should go to sleep. You had a long day.

But Newt couldn't sleep. He had a bed next to Thomas. He insisted Newt had to have his bed next to his, which made Newt feel weird. He still couldn't erase the picture from before the creature appeared.

The golden haired boy shifted his position so he could face Thomas. He looked so peaceful, sleeping there, so close to him. He couldn't ever imagine kissing him, making some sort of move. Not back in the glade or in the scorch. And definitely not while rescuing Minho. That's why he gave him that letter. But now? Now that everything is peaceful? Not having to fight for your life, except those creatures. Now he could finally do something.

Then he remembered how Brenda looked at him and how she looked at Thomas. If she likes Thomas too... Then that wouldn't be good. Newt doesn't know how close they are. How close they got. All he can do for now is watch and hope he'll get his happy ending. One with Thomas, his Thomas.
