Chapter 31: Somnus Lucis Caelum

The Mystic or perhaps Somnus Lucis Caelum. The Founder King of Lucis and the younger brother of Ardyn Lucis Caelum. Originally, the throne was intended to be passed down to his older brother, but Somnus had set him and his fiancée up by trapping them. He later imprisoned his brother on Angelgard for two thousand years while he focused on building his kingdom.

As a Lucii, the Mystic appears steadfast, determined and loyal to the Crystal's cause, but strict with those who seek the power of the Ring of the Lucii without being of the royal bloodline. The Cosmogony describes the Founder King as a hero archetype who freed Eos from darkness, having been chosen by the Ring of the Lucii for his worthiness, never mentioning Ardyn.

Despite all Ardyn has done, the Mystic acknowledges their familial relation and calls Ardyn a formal and old-fashioned term for "older brother" used to show respect Somnus shows no hesitation in fighting Ardyn whom he considers a traitor, nor any remorse for striking down Aera Mirus Fleuret by accident; yet, he does not revel in his victory, instead turning solemn.

"That's enough, brother." Somnus said. "No more blood will shed upon the Princess and Noctis."

"Who's that?" Prompto asked anyone. "That guy looks like Noct...."

"The guy who murder his own family for power." Dante sneered. "He's a bad looking guy like your king."

"He's....." Ignis can't finished the sentence.

"Me...." Noctis answered but shocked at once

" What I wouldn't give for a chance to speak with the Founder King himself!" Ardyn sneered at Somnus.  "It's been 2,000 years since the last time we've fought. And whose fault do you think that is? Who could have exiled me as a monster and erased me from the face of history?"

"You were tainted—unfit to sit the throne. Please brother. Return to the darkness whence you came." Somnus pleaded.

"Now? But I'm having so much fun! To think I'd get the pleasure of killing you myself! What's wrong "dear brother"? Too afraid to put down your expensive toy and come face me yourself? I've already got the girl to begin my plans."

Dante raise his Ivory at Ardyn's head threatening to end him once and for all to protect you. "I would put that away Son of Sparda. I'm immortal too you know. I can't die if another godlike power can destroy me."

"If that's what it takes to shoot your gutless crown you wear, I'll hit the Jackpot and free my babe from god-less shit." Dante mocks.

"So scary." Ardyn gushes.

"This is no beginning—only the end. This is preposterous...How could Celestia's children could be your goal so impure possess such power!?" Somnus asked.

"The girls power has Celestia's blood flow her veins. Mere Dragon-Phoenix's are both punishers for the side of between light and dark." Ardyn explains. "The eye's of Etro wanted to seal her away, so if the Dragon-Phoenix of darkness were to succeed my plans the world will be mine."

"You're no match." Somnus disagreed. "I was right to have sealed you away. You truly are a monster, brother."

Ardyn laughs. "Don't be facetious. The only monster here is you!"

"The gods blessed you as their chosen; the people adored you as their savior. I was neither powerful nor popular...just envious, perhaps."
