It was late morning by the time you walk around the street from your overnight stay in the palace prison. Throughout the whole journey back, Ignis' words lingered in your mind.
Did that seriously happen? Everything honestly felt like a nightmare.
You still felt extremely confused at the sudden request, no demand of having you working at the palace. Why did the king want you to work in the palace in the first place?
Moreover, why weren't you allowed to refuse? After what just happened between you and his grace, wouldn't it be in bis best interest to keep you out of the palace walls? Groaning in frustration, you began to rub your temples with your fingers. A headache was starting to form all these questions that were flooding into your mindset. This was all too confusing for you to comprehend.
Shaking your head, you cut yourself from your trance. 'Think about it later (Y/n). You should be happy that you're alive....for now.' You said to yourself in an attempt to draw away from your thoughts.
However, you couldn't bring yourself to be glad, for the fact that you were finally home. After all it wasn't going to be long until you were to be sent back to the very place where you were just locked up in —a week does go by very quickly.
Though you weren't exactly going to be locked up in a cell, you still felt as though you were still chained down as the king's prisoner, despite this so called 'release'
You went to a tombstone where the all the saviors were lost in war. There was stood was your father's statue with your mother staring beyond the city. You place a boutique in front of them before traditionally bow three times on your knee lowering your head touching the ground and sat straight.
A soft sigh passed your lips. "If only I've been a lot stronger, I would still want to have my freedom. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to keep my word." You couldn't help but apologize. "I've made one friend. His sliver hair was attracted my attention and so was his face. I can't believe I'm saying this....but I miss him. And who knows, I really screwed up and broke him. I couldn't keep my promise to stay by his side. If I could wish for one thing....then I prayed that If I can stop this madness....I want to be welcome back home to Dante."
You wipe away a tear when you felt something in your pocket and pulled it out. It was Vergil's amulet. Trish gave that to you and you probably forgot that you should return it to Dante when you left. Oh well, it was too late to give it back when he was on a mission.
It had been years since you visited their grave together, but you couldn't help but visit every year out of respect and tradition; even if you had very few memories of them.
Slowly your eyes drifted close a tiredness pulled at your thoughts, but you rose from your nearly sleep driven state with a fire in your veins.
The week rolled over much quicker than you wanted to. Today was the day. The day you go back to your old work—your safe haven—into the place you deemed the equivalent to hell. The day when you were to throw away the one life you had left all for the king.
You heard a loud loud knock coming from the front door. You froze, knowing very well who was behind that door. Just like Ignis had said, they were here, and they were coming to get you.
The knocking sounded again causing you to walk to the front of the apartment you rent temporary. As you opened the door you were greeted by the face of a bespectacled man.
"Good Morning." Ignis greeted in his usual polite and formal manner. "I'm here to escort you Miss Evan."
"Scientia." you greeted back.
