Chapter 9: Chaos' Warm Welcome

Vergil walked into a big circular room in the center.

A beast seemed to roar from above as a giant demon dropped down nearby them. It spoke...

"I found you, seed of Sparda! I told you that I remembered your rancid scent! No matter where you run to, you can never hide from me!"

Vergil just effortlessly killed him.

 "You.. you're not the one I faced before.." it cried.

"But the smell... there are two of them! That excrement Sparda had two sons!!"

The Beowulf could not smell Vergil... he'd have to fix that later, but not now. Later. It was improper for a demons to not have their scent. After killing the Beowulf, Vergil obtained its devil arm and tested it out on it's dead body.

Vergil stood at the center of the area, dropping his and Dante's amulets into the well in the ground. The amulets began to float towards each other and connect as they fell in, glowing bright when they finally joined. He then kneeled down and squeezes his hand around Yamato's sword, drawing blood.

He then slashed the katana back, making blood splatter into the hole and on the nearby ground, he let his hand drip blood down afterwards.

Dante was having a blast with the quicksilver, freezing time and killing enemies before they could even move. You looked at him confused as to what just happened. 

He just chuckled and walked toward the door, "Try to keep up, sweetie pie." He commented slyly while you pouted.

Little did he know that he had a limit on how much he could do the moves and now Quicksilver needed to recharge.

You round up at a spiral staircase that made him feel deja vu.. he didn't let it get to him though as you descended deeper into the tower.

After going through a door they came to more demon statues. 

Dante tried to Quicksilver but it didn't work. 

You chuckled and ran forward, smashing some of the chess pieces in two- but got fired into the next hallway as the magic one sent a fireball at you.

Dante ran towards it and jumped, smashing Rebellion down on it, this destroyed it.

You got up and shook your head, then looked around; Dante vanished. He returned soon after, saying he was just solving a puzzle.

You had already taken care of the rest of the hallway demons while he was gone, so you carried on.

You and Dante entered two more rooms and- VERGIL!

"Why isn't this working?! Is there something missing? Must more blood be shed?" Vergil yells.

Dante pat your head and he then alerted Vergil to his presence.

"You seem to be in a bad mood... "

"Dante." Vergil growls.

"So my mother's amulet is the key that unlocks the door to the demon world.. good plan, pop." He commented.

"Just the opposite actually, originally it was the key to the Demon World but was given to the humans as a gift." Vergil retorted, wanting to show off how much more he knew of the situation than Dante.

He found his younger brother foolish, but it was probably because Dante was uneducated. Maybe he'd understand if he knew what Vergil had been through and knew.
