You know how when you were a kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be like. White dress, Prince Charming, Who'd carry you away to a castle on a hill. You'd lie in bed at night and close your eyes, and you had complete and utter faith.
Townhouse
Meredith watched Charlie through the mirror as she brushed her teeth, noticing the amusement in her gray eyes. With a mouth full of toothpaste, Charlie asked, "Is something on your mind?"
Meredith made a face and replied, "Please stop that."
Charlie snickered and gargled, then rinsed her mouth. "You're the one staring at me as if I'm a puzzle to solve."
Rolling her eyes and crossing her arms, Meredith stated, "I just realized that all I know about you is that you love food, you're a surgeon, you're extremely intelligent, and you're health nut."
Charlie raised an eyebrow skeptically, "Hmm..."
Meredith casually replied, "Isn't it strange? We jump right to having sex at one of our places without even knowing basic things about each other, like your favorite color."
Charlie imitated Meredith's posture, "Are you suggesting I have a hidden life you're unaware of?"
Meredith narrowed her eyes, questioning further, "Do you?"
Charlie chuckled, "Come on, Mer, there's no secret life here. You've been to my place, seen every room including my bedroom. Does it seem like I'm hiding a secret wife?"
Meredith cocked her head, saying, "Not really, but still."
Charlie embraced the intern, sharing, "I don't often discuss my past because it's mostly painful memories. I can barely recall any happy moments."
Meredith sighed against Charlie's chest and wrapped her arms around her waist, teasing, "You're not hiding a secret kid from me, are you?"
Charlie chuckled, "Who knows, I might just do it to see your reaction," and dodged a hit from Meredith, adding, "Not the face."
Downstairs
"All I'm saying is it wouldn't hurt you to make sure to get proper breakfast foods." Charlie said as she walked toward the pantry "I've been eating muesli, and Meredith let me tell you, muesli doesn't constitute a good breakfast." she ignored the looks from Izzie and George and even more the dozens of cupcakes lining the table.
Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close, you could taste them.
Meredith jokingly remarked, "I don't have a fully stocked pantry for you to whip up any meal you want."
Charlie replied with a smirk, "Which is why I prefer you staying at my place."
Meredith casually mentioned, "I also appreciate not having to rummage through your closet for clothes."
Charlie opened her mouth but stopped when she noticed George and Izzie watching her "What?"
George quickly glanced down and mumbled, "Nothing, ma'am?"
Meredith playfully hit Charlie's shoulder and said, "Don't scare him."
Charlie sulked, saying, "But it's too much fun."
Meredith shook her head and said, "Stop. He's already scared enough that you'll bother him at work, no need to make it worse at home."
Charlie suggested, "Yet another reason for you to spend more time at my place. We could do some things on the breakfast counter." She winked at Meredith, who blushed and added, "No one to watch."
