Remember when you were a kid and your biggest worry was, like, if you'd get a bike for your birthday, or if you get to eat cookies for breakfast. Being an adult? Totally overrated.
The noise of the water hitting the tiled floor resonates in the bathroom, where steam fills the air. We see Meredith sitting on the shower floor, allowing the water to flow over her as she fights to stay awake.
I mean, seriously, don't be fooled by all the hot shoes and the great sex and the no parents anywhere telling you to do. Adulthood is responsibility

Charlie hums to the tune of the song playing in the background as she dances while cooking pancakes on the stove. Her morning is interrupted by the ringing of her phone, and she lowers the music before checking on her pancakes. Without even glancing at the caller ID, she answers the call and greets the person on the other end with a cheerful "Charlie speaking." The voice on the line responds with a polite "Good morning, Dr. Avery."
Hearing her lawyer's familiar deep voice caused her to stop in her tracks. "Good morning, Tony," she replied.
"I got an email from the Avery Foundation's attorneys regarding your ongoing dispute," Tony informed her.
Charlie stared off into the distance, not wanting to get her hopes up as the same battle had been ongoing for months. "Do I need to attend?" she asked.
"Yes, it looks like Harper Avery will be joining us as well," Tony admitted, causing Charlie to close her eyes in resignation.
"So, I have to be there?" she asked reluctantly.
"Yes, unless you want to give up on it. Then, yes, you have to attend," he said apologetically.
Charlie nodded, even though Tony couldn't see her. "When and where is this meeting?"

Nursing home
Meredith's voice is hoarse as she looks tiredly at the caregiver responsible for her mother's care, praying she misunderstood the information. "I've been awake for two days straight. I have surgery soon and I can't miss my rounds. Are you sure there's no one else here or the attorney...? Do I have to take care of this myself?"
Responsibility, it really does suck.
The caretaker gave Meredith a doubtful look and said, "We're discussing her estate, finances, and medical needs. Are you sure you want to entrust her life to someone else? After all, she's your mother."

Charlie's apartment.
The neurosurgeon was in her closet, opting for a formal attire instead of her usual work clothes. She chose a navy blue pantsuit and a white shirt, paired it with boots, and left the closet towards her bedroom. As she threw her clothes on the bed, she wished she had something else to do that morning instead of facing her absentee sperm donor in a conference room.
Really, really sucks
Four seasons
Charlie entered the hotel through the double doors, feeling a mix of anger and anxiety. Her usual smile was replaced by a scowl, and she bypassed reception when she spotted her lawyer nearby. He was dressed in a smart three piece suit with neatly combed wavy black hair, and he waved as she made her way towards him.
"Morning," she said flatly. "Are they here?"
Tony confirmed, "Yes, they arrived unexpectedly. I was prepared for another court appearance."
