We live out our lives on the surgical unit. Seven days a week, fourteen hours a day. We're together more than we're apart -

The loud sound of an alarm interrupts the gentle sound of rain hitting the windows, causing Meredith to groggily swat it off. Trying to block out the arguing outside her room, she lies in bed staring at the ceiling until the noise gets too much and her door swings open."I should have the bigger room, Meredith, tell George!" Izzie's voice pierces through the air, prompting Meredith to reluctantly get out of bed in just an oversized shirt and underwear.

"The room difference is minimal," George chimes in, and Meredith, unimpressed, walks past them without getting involved in the argument.

After a while the ways of residency..

I have extra clothes, so I should get the larger room," argued Izzie.George laughed scornfully, "But I got here first!

Becomes the way of life...
Number one: Always keep score, Number two: do whatever you can to outsmart the other guy.

Izzie and George are bickering while she sorts through her laundry, regretting not doing it earlier since she's now struggling to find a clean shirt. "Move your clothes somewhere else," Izzie says."Everywhere else is full of Meredith's mom's boxes," George retorts.

With a spark of triumph, Meredith eventually locates a clean shirt and heads back up the stairs, deftly navigating around the boxes crowding the hallway. She ignores George and Izzie's inquiries about her mother, feeling no need to respond.
Upon reaching her bedroom door, she abruptly shuts it in the faces of both George and Izzie. Their muffled complaints are blocked out by the closed door, and she relaxes when she hears their footsteps fading away. She leans against the door, relieved. "Why did I agree to have roommates? What we're you thinking, Meredith?" she mutters to herself, grabbing her belongings and heading into the attached bathroom.

Charlie runs briskly through the bustling city streets in the morning, skillfully avoiding pedestrians. The Seattle sky is a soft grey, with a light drizzle falling. With music blaring in her earphones, she is oblivious to the sounds of traffic and voices around her. Pausing at an orange light, she is about to continue running when she looks up and narrowly avoids being hit by a swarm of messenger bikes. "Oh dammit," she mutters.

Miranda entered the hospital grumbling about reckless cyclists meeting their demise, barely noticing when she almost stumbled but was caught swiftly. "Oops, sorry—" she began to say, but halted her apology upon realizing who had saved her.
Charlie smirked, "No apologies for almost knocking me over, Miranda?"

Annoyed, Miranda scoffed and straightened her shirt, asking, "Who told you to block the way?" With a chuckle, Charlie teased, "Just realized what day it is, huh?" Frustrated, Miranda mumbled, "Yeah, what's with this city?" As they stepped into the elevator, their playful banter continued.

"Did you run into any?" Miranda asked. "I almost did, while I was out for my morning jog, a group of bikers nearly ran me over," she said, shaking her head. "Luckily, I spotted them in time, or I'd be the one in the ER."As they exited the elevator and conversed about the foolishness of people, Miranda was engrossed while Charlie added some humor occasionally. They eventually reached the OR board where they met Richard, Preston, and Derek gathered around it.

Richard seemed pleased with the board, referring to it as excellent, well-organized, and efficient. He mentioned that if everything goes smoothly, they might finish early that night.Charlie raised an eyebrow in surprise as Miranda snorted disrespectfully.
