Chapter 11

Another new day. The sun was rising as usual radiating the golden sunlight glow. The concubine palace filled with the familiar sounds and talking as the hours passed.

In the corridor a familiar foreign figure walked in. The concubines saw that the queen mother, Jeon Jiyeon walked without looking at them. All of them bowed recognizing her presence. The queen mother herself showing up in the concubine palace was not any familiar sight to them. When she was out of the sight the sound of whispering echoed through them as they Wondered what brought the queen mother there.

Seokjin just finished his breakfast sitting in the living room when he heard the knock on the door. Dahyun quickly went to the door and opened it. How surprised she was when she saw that the queen mother was standing before her. She immediately bowed and let her enter.

Jiyeon came in Jin's sight and stood there with a smile. Confusion was written all over Jin's face. He looked at Dahyun behind Jiyeon. Dahyun answered understanding Jin's confusion. "Your highness, this is queen mother, Jeon Jiyeon."

Jin's lips formed an 'O' and he bowed to her respectfully. Dahyun spoke from behind. "Sorry, Your highness. His highness wasn't aware of you."

Instead of getting angry she just walked towards Jin. " I understand. We didn't get any chance to introduce ourselves properly after him entering the palace." Her smiley face brightened up the tensed atmosphere of the room.

She spoke again. "I wanted to meet you but I was not feeling well this past few days. So as soon I get well I came here to meet you."
Her words were not common for any concubine.

Dahyun was shocked hearing her. The queen mother herself wanted to meet Seokjin ?! But she proceeded the words Jin said before about how he ended up there she understood. The late king himself chose Seokjin. Who knew if the king was alive Seokjin would have been the empress already!

"I'm prince Kim Seokjin, your highness." Jin introduced himself to her formally. "I already know dear. " Jin looked surprised with the endearment as well as Dahyun. Queen mother usually didn't communicate with any of the concubine that much.

"Why are you standing? Sit. I came here to talk with you." Jiyeon gestured towards the couch. Jin nodded and follow Jiyeon to the couch. They sat face to face.

The queen mother started speaking first. "Are you liking our palace? Do you have any problems?" No. He wasn't liking the palace and yes, he had many problems. But he couldn't say all of those in front of the queen mother. He remembered Jungkook saying not to tell that to anyone.

So he just smiled nervously. "No I'm okay." But still a small pout adorned his face. Queen mother noticed that slight gloomy gesture of Jin.

She held Jin's hand. "Seokjin, I know this place is all new to you. It's totally normal that you'll have difficulty to live here at first. That's why I'm asking you. I'm like a mother figure to you. Tell me. You don't have to worry about anything. Open up to me dear." Jiyeon said caressing Jin's hand.

Jin wanted to tell her everything finding her presence warming. But still he couldn't find himself in telling her all the incidents happened after his arrival. Jungkook warned him not to tell anything to anyone. And he didn't want that same treatment he got the first day he came there.

"No your highness. I'm okay." Jin said looking down. Avoiding eye contact with her. But those timid eyes of him already gave an answer to Jiyeon's question.

" Why are you trying to fool me dear? You don't know but you really matter to me. I want to take care of you if you're having any problem." Jiyeon knew Jin wasn't comfortable. That's also the reason why he wasn't answering her questions.
