the moment i knew, taylor swift

"sleepover at mine!" i exclaim into the phone, earning loud agreement from marissa and summer.

"oh my god, yes!" summer replies. "what time should i get there?"

"whenever! i'm getting snacks ready as we speak," i move around the kitchen, getting bowls and bags of chips out.

"i'll be there in ten," marissa chimes in.

"already?" i laugh.

"i'd rather be there than at my place."

i'm silent for a moment. "alright, i'll see you soon. sum, what time do you think you'll be here by?"

"give me a half hour or so, i'm at the mall right now. i'll see you guys later! bye!" she squeals. all three of us hang up and i put my cellphone down on the counter.

as i'm readying my bedroom, i hear the doorbell ring. i put on a pair of slippers and run down to the entrance of my house.

"hey, coop!" i hug her. "come in!"

by 7 pm, the three of us are intensely engaging in ice cream and gossip. summer and marissa are passing around a pillow on my bed, while i'm sitting on a bean bag next to them.

"yknow what we should do?" i ask.

"ooh! watch the valley? or do each others nails?" summer points at me as she lists off ideas.

"i was gonna say karaoke, but we could do those too. but, crap, i don't have the dvds," i sigh.

"good thing i brought them!" summer holds up a box set of every season of the valley.

"oh my god, summer, i love you," i throw my arms around her before taking the box set from her and putting in the first season.

"i think we need an update on seth," marissa says.

"what do you mean?" i ask.

"that kiss!" summer exclaims. "what happened after the party?"

i realize that this isn't exactly the kind of girl talk i was anticipating tonight. ever since that night, i like to keep my mind off of seth cohen.

"oh... nothing."

"nothing happened?! not even a 'that was a nice kiss, lucy'?" the brunette replies.

not even that.

"i'm sure it doesn't compare to any other kiss. i mean, it was nothing," i say. who am i kidding? i wouldn't be surprised if that was seth's first kiss. the thought of that being his first kiss makes me shudder. he deserves more than some dare.

"do you really think seth cohen is going around making out with every girl on the block?" summer laughs.

"no... i just mean that it didn't mean anything." i bite my lip.

marissa speaks up,"lucy, we all know it meant something to you."

i hesitate. "i don't know... i mean, i finally kissed seth. but it was kind of against both of our wills. wouldn't he have said something to me if it had meant anything to him?"
