"No... I can't run any faster," she panted,
her voice trembling as her legs faltered.
"Just... just try to hide for a moment," he urged, desperation in his voice.
"They're already here."
Her heart hammered against her chest as she stumbled forward, searching for cover.
She clung to a silent prayer, a plea whispered into the void.'Please, Lord. Please help me. Please save me. I have nowhere to go. Have mercy.'
The towering statue of Jesus loomed before her, an image of salvation amidst the suffocating dread. She slipped behind it, pressing her trembling body against the cold stone, her breath catching in shallow gasps. Her fear was a tangible weight, pressing down on her, crushing the air from her lungs.
One minute. Two minutes. Three... she lost count.
Time stretched, every second an eternity.
And then—just as she exhaled,
a bone-chilling voice broke the silence,
low and venomous, slithering into her ear.
"My wife has always loved God more than me."
Her gasp was sharp and involuntary,
echoing in the empty space.
Her glossy eyes widened, and she froze,
paralyzed by the icy tendrils of terror coiling around her.
She didn't dare move, but his presence engulfed her,
a predator savoring its catch.
Arms—gentle but unyielding—snaked around her waist, pulling her closer.
She flinched as his head rested on her shoulder,
his breath brushing her skin,
his voice dripping with mockery.
"You shouldn't run away like this, vida mía.
It's not good for your health.
And certainly not good for our baby... right, tesoro?"
Her world tilted. He knew.
Her body sagged against his as her strength evaporated. His soft chuckle reverberated through her, each note slicing away at her hope.
'I can never escape him. Not in this lifetime.'
Her vision blurred, and darkness enveloped her
as she fainted,
his quiet laughter the last sound she heard.

It's my first time writing a story. English is not my first language. I just want to try it out for once.
I hope you all will be kind to me and love the story.
