I waited till night time to fall, then I rang Jack, "Did you get lost?"
"No of course not... okay a little bit.." He chuckled, "Do you know where Cafe Nero is?" I asked. "Yes, I can see it now."
"Okay wait there, I'll be there in 15 minutes." I excited Katie's flat and walked towards the Cafe. I could see him sitting at the window seat, he spotted me and waved. I nodded and made my way in, I sat myself down in front of him. "So, do you want anything?" He asked while smiling. I shook my head, "I'm saving myself for when we get to the pub." I had never really had alcohol, and I was told that sometimes people cannot 'hold' their drink. Which means that the alcohol effects them quickly in small consumptions. He nodded and sipped his coffee. "So... tell me a bit about yourself." I didn't know what to say... So I made it up, "I work with animals and I have a sister, called Katie." His expression seemed to change a bit but quickly changed back. "Oh really? I don't have any siblings... So I can't sympathize with you. Sorry." He smiled at me and chuckled a bit. "There's no need to apologize, we don't really spend that much time together." We sat in silence for a bit, then Jack spoke up, "So.. Did you hear about that poor man..? The one who got stabbed in his brothers house." He seemed to focus a bit more on me. "Yes I did hear about that." I broke eye contact for a second then fixed my eyes in place again. "Was just a shame... Apparently the brother wanted to keep his identity a secret. Little suspicious I must say." He muttered and broke eye contact for a couple of seconds. "It does seem suspicious." I replied. Jack seemed to get a bit frustrated with this comment, "Do you think he did it?" He started to fidget. I shrugged, "I don't know much about the case, but a lot of the evidence could point to him." I let out a little smile. Jack gulped down the rest of his hot coffee and stood up, "Do you want to go to the pub now?" He held out his hand. I nodded and took it. He pulled me up then let go of my hand.
We walked down into town. Jack took a turn down an ally way, perfect. But before I could even think about knocking him out, he spun around quickly and pushed me against a wall. I hit my head causing me to loose focus, shortly after I felt a sharp pain in my neck, then everything went black.
My eyes slowly drooped open, my vision was blurred and I could hear muffled sounds. Once I managed to focus my eyesight; I could see Jack setting up tools on a tray. The room I was in had big dusty boxes everywhere. It was poorly lit and smelled damp. My head ached, I tried to rub it but my hands were bound behind my back. As for my legs, they were bound to a table leg.
I locked eyes with Jack, "I see you've woken up.." He smiled, I coughed and muttered, "What do you want?"
"That isn't really an answer people usually give when in this situation.." Jack laughed and picked up one of the knives he been setting up. "What I want... is to know who the brother is."
"You're going to have to give me a good enough reason to tell you." I spat. Jack chuckled, "I think my little friend could convince you." He played with the knife. Then slowly moved closer, he placed the knife's edge on my skin and pressed down, drawing blood. I didn't flinch. He seemed to get frustrated, "You will tell me!" He shouted and slashed my face, drawing more blood. Then he slashed me again and again and again. Blood was oozing out of my cuts. He shouted again, "YOU WILL TELL ME!!" He grabbed onto my face and cut into my cheek. But I didn't scream, I could barely feel the pain. I just stared at him and said, "I'll tell you, but only if you give me a valid enough reason." Jack stopped cutting up my cheek and stared back at me. "I wish to know who he is, so I can find him... and.." His cheeks grew pink. This confused me, he carried on, slowly, "I...I would really... like to... meet him... cause.. his work is... really... good.." Jack stopped staring at me as his cheeks grew pinker. "Well, one way to appreciate him is not to tie him up and cut him, because it puts him off you completely." I replied. He shot back up, wide eyed, and held his hand to his mouth, "You're.. t-the brother..?" He dropped to his knees and crawled towards me, he franticly untied my hands. He was incredibly close to me, I could feel his breath on my neck, smell his fragrance. It was sort of minty. A pleasant mint smell I must say. He was slower to untie my feet, once he had he worked back up to me. His dark brown eyes... I felt something, my stomach was... tingly?
