Present day.Later that day, I was in my room reviewing for my LSATs. It was the usual at this point. As I scribbled more notes, I couldn't help but dwell on the fact that I saw Alex's favourite book at the library. Instances like these were making it harder for me to move on. It felt like I was an elastic band; abruptly snapped back to the starting point as I was stretching to forget.
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when my younger sister, Bianca, excitedly bursted into my room.
"Kat! Guess what? Cameron and I are going to a concert, and we have an extra ticket!" she beamed.
Cameron and Bianca were high school sweethearts, who were also recently engaged at the time. It was odd that my sister, being so young was already engaged. The idea of marriage simply made me scoff. It was nothing but a social construct.
I irritably closed my textbook and glared at her.
"Whose concert?" I asked.
"Arctic Monkeys. They're a rock band. Cam introduced me to them a year ago and since then I've just been obsessed! I just thought that you'd might like to go since you listen to stuff similar to their music. Also I forgot to add, they're all floor tickets!" Bianca took pride in the fact that our family was comfortable, and her spending habits reflected that perfectly.
I scratched my chin in thought for a moment. It didn't sound like a bad idea. I was looking to broaden my music taste, either way. I also hadn't gone out for fun in awhile, as I had been studying during my free time. It wouldn't hurt to take a break.
I shrugged. "Sure, I guess. Thanks."
Bianca clapped her hands cheerfully.
"Yay! The concert's in a few days. You're definitely going to enjoy it."
I gave her a half smile as she left the room.

Cam and Bianca were going to pick me up at 5, and the show was going to start at 7. I slipped into a black lace halter, a pair of flared jeans and some platform Docs. Soon enough, I heard the familiar honk of Cam's Nissan Altima.
As I buckled my seatbelt, Bianca peered at me from her passenger seat.
"Looks like somebody finally wore something decent," she snarked jokingly.
I just rolled my eyes at her backhanded comment.
"Thanks," I said sarcastically.
We arrived at the venue with an hour to spare, and lined up in the floor section.
Cam and Bianca were cuddling and kissing. I immediately turned away. It had been so long since I experienced a moment like that with someone.
Alex might've liked this band, I wish he was here with me, I thought sadly.
A short while later, we had approached the pit section. We had somehow settled in the closest possible area, with the stage only a couple inches away. The openers soon came on, and the three of us drifted with the music. It was the classic punk rock that I was used to listening.
The stage soon went dark and I heard an announcement.
"Presenting the Arctic Monkeys with their AM Tour!"
Lights began to fill the stage once again as the crowd blared with cheer. The rifts of electric and bass guitars filled the room. A figure at the front held on to his mic stand, with a guitar hanging from his body. The spotlight above turned on when he began singing the lyrics. My heart nearly stopped.
