As the cart moved along, Colton kept scratching at his arms.
"I thought you said the hay was going to be comfy!"
"By now, you should know not to trust me. It's not that uncomfortable though, is it?"
"If a person likes getting scratched all over, and things getting in their clothes, then this would be perfect for them. But, I am not one of those people. I would rather be sitting in pillows and living the time of my life, thank you very much."
Upon seeing Sally's fading smile, however, Colton tried to take his words back.
"But, overall, it's actually not that bad. Once you get past the very uncomfortable hay, it's actually a great way to see the whole fair."
Sally then smiled, and continued with her self-proclaimed amazing of the fair. As she pointed out every detail of the fair, Colton glanced more at her than at the fair. Each time she seem to have caught him, he simply looked away and nodded at every word she said. He couldn't help, but just look at her cute lopsided smile, her twinkling eyes, just her. As she continued on, he tried to interrupt her by proclaiming his impending hunger. But, she just ignored him and continued on and on.
"Oh, the best part of the fair comes last, which are the fireworks. They are really amazing. Seriously, though, you can see them from miles away. They start at 9:00, so I think we got a few hours left."
"Um, Sally, the cart ride is finished. So, coincidentally, your amazing tour has finished. Can I please, pretty please get some food now? I'm starving."
"Ugh, fine. But, remember to come back before 9:00. We can meet up at the balloon darts booth. It's next to the Ferris Wheel."
He simply nodded and quickly jumped out of the cart. He seemed to go as fast as the Flash as he raced to the nearest hotdog stand. Sally rolled her eyes and headed towards to the jewelry booth she's been admiring earlier. Trying on the jewelry seemed to take longer than she thought, as the next time she looked at her watch, it was 8:45 pm.
She panicked and ran to the balloon darts wearing her new necklace. As she got near the booth, she noticed Colton talking to Iridessa Smith, the caretaker of the balloon darts. She was pretty, in a mysterious kind of way. Sally couldn't help but feel jealous as she noticed Colton smiling at Iridessa while the girl in turn, batted her eyes at him. Sally quickly stomped up to the booth and loudly proclaimed,"Hi Colton. We have to get to the fireworks now, cause we're already late."
"But, it's only 8:50 pm." Sally tried to control her urge of wringing the boy's neck. Couldn't he see that she was protecting him from future heartbreak?
"But, we just have to find the perfect spot to see the fireworks. They are the best part of the fair and I'm not going to jeopardize my perfect view for a very slow boy."
"First of all, I was here before you. Second of all, well, I'm not slow."
She just ignored him and took his arm. As she dragged him across the fairgrounds to the nearby field, Sally muttered to herself about Colton being the death of her and wasting time. They walked up to the middle of the field, where she had previously laid a picnic blanket. Suddenly, they heard a crack and a zap. They both looked up to see colorful explosions decorating the night sky. As they sat down, Sally noticed her close proximity to Colton. She suddenly had the urge to link their fingers together. But, she ignored it and focused on the many flashes above her.
Few minutes and all that could be heard were the fireworks exploding. She opened her mouth to tell Colton she was going to get some popcorn when she heard him whisper something to her.
