"Hi, oppa- wait. You!" Her accusatory finger pointed squarely at Ara, who stood there, looking like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Oppa, she's the one who cheated on you, right?" Bahiyyih's voice crackled with righteous indignation, and before I could intervene, she was off, brandishing a baseball bat like she was ready to challenge for the World Series.
I sighed inwardly, resigned to the fact that my sister's protective instincts were as fierce as a mama bear's. "It's fine, Hiyyih. You don't have to worry—"
But Bahiyyih wasn't having any of it. "I'm going to kill you. How dare you hurt him, huh?!?!?!" With that, she chased Ara away faster than you could say "home run."
"She's never gonna change. Anyways," I muttered to myself, shaking my head in equal parts exasperation and fondness. "Come in, my new girlfriend."
Keira beamed at me, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "With great pleasure, boyfie."
"Ew. Don't call me that," I replied, wrinkling my nose in mock disgust.
"Why not? I heard some other girl calling her boyfriend that," Keira retorted, her grin widening as we made our way inside.
I collapsed onto the sofa, feeling like I'd just survived a whirlwind. Keira settled in beside me, her presence a comforting weight against the chaos of the evening.
"Do you always get this tired?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
I nodded wearily, feeling a pang of sympathy in her gaze. "Don't worry. I feel bad for me too," I joked, and to my surprise, she laughed—a soft, melodic sound that chased away the lingering tension.
"I should go now. I'll meet you tomorrow," Keira said.
She was about to leave but was jerked back. She sighed and looked back at me.
"How am I supposed to leave when you are holding my hand?" she teased, her voice a melody in the dimly lit room.
"You said not to let go."
With a sigh, she reached out, her fingers tracing a path across my wrist.
"This is for temporary use only," she remarked. "Now let go of me."
I obeyed, releasing her hand as she spoke of nightly recharges for the band.
"It'll need to be recharged every night," she informed me, her words echoing in the air.
I nodded, silently processing the information as she prepared to depart.
"I'm going then. Bye," she said, turning to leave.
But before she could take another step, a sudden thought struck me, stopping her in her tracks.
"Keira!" I called out, my voice filled with urgency.
She paused, glancing back at me, curiosity dancing in her gaze.
"Why don't you live with me?" I blurted out, the words tumbling from my lips before I could stop them.
A hint of surprise flickered across her features, quickly replaced by a playful smirk.
"Do you like being with me this much?" she teased, her laughter ringing in the air.
I rolled my eyes, attempting to salvage my dignity. "You wish. I said it because I don't know where to find you when I need a recharge."
With a playful grin, she agreed to my proposition, but not without adding her own condition.
"Sure. But I'm sleeping in your room," she declared, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
My protests fell on deaf ears as she darted off towards my room before I could even finish my sentence.
