Capítulo XV- Esto sí es una democracia
Vydia's eyes opened on what could have been a sunny morning, but the kugelblitz shone through her window. Though that note was depressive, she was thankful for her modified genetics. On her last day on Earth, she expected a throbbing headache, but to her surprise, there was nothing, including an empty bedside beside her. The relief disappeared, feeling the cold sheet. Her head snapped up as her eyebrows furrowed. Five Hargreeves paced back and forth at the foot of the bed.
Her head fell flat on her pillow, commenting, "You can't keep disappearing every morning. Get back in here." She lifted the bedsheets beside her.
"Sorry, Vee," he apologized, standing still. "I woke up and everything from last night hit me. By the way, I got you some breakfast. I already ate," he traveled around the bed to her side. She didn't say anything about leaving her out for breakfast. He had always been an early riser.
She turned to the opposite side. A silver platter carried a glass of chocolate milk. The sides fogged up, bringing a smile to her face. It was still cool. There were two muffins and a bowl of fruit next to it. "Thank you, darling." She sat up and on the other side of her food was Five's glass of milk, a half-eaten peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich, and another fruit bowl. It was untouched. "You didn't eat much."
"I've been thinking about last night's events-"
She teasingly smiled, "You little pervert-"
He rolled his eyes and stuffed his hands into his pockets. "No, not about that."
"Now, I'm offended." She shrugged, "But continue."
"Do you remember anything from last night?"
Her fingertips touched the cool glass, lifting her milk off the platter. "Not much right now. Just the dance, rooftop, going to the bathroom a lot. See, that's why I never drink... Oh, and falling asleep in the elevator."
His eyebrows rose. "What do you remember about the elevator?"
"Nothing really. We fell asleep in the corner. I think we were trying to find our way back to the room. Honestly, most of my memory is blurry. I just remember where we were. Why? What's going on?"
"Before we knocked out in the elevator, I saw Dad talking to someone in the buffalo suite." His mind flashed back to the room, spinning. His arm was around Vydia's shoulders as she helped him around. Steps stumbled on the red carpet of the halls. He didn't know where.
The alcohol messed with Vydia's body. The number one reason she didn't drink. Her body glitched when it interfered with her nervous system. With every couple of hiccups, she geo-leaped to another floor, a room, or a few feet away from where they once stood. Still, he held onto her as if his life depended on it, traveling with her wherever she went.
