Sitting in her office—Essence stared at the files of Desiree Logan. Their newest client at the firm who was on trial for the murder of her step-father. Today Essence had a meeting with Desiree who was thankfully out on trail. This case had just come in and already it was stressful. Especially with Essence still being in law school and struggling.

For the past two years she'd been dedicating her life to law school with her attendance at the Georgia State University College of Law. Essence had been stressed out recently with trying to finish strong, Especially with her graduation quickly approaching in May. Essence was grateful that the journey was almost over but it was hurdle she was trying to get over now. Especially because her grades weren't where she wanted them to be at the moment.

Essence still worked under Margaret Maxwell as her assistant and she hoped to get a full time job working with her after she graduated. Essence had been doing a great job handling cases and she hoped that when she was officially declared a lawyer—she'd receive clients.

Hearing a knock at the door—she yelled out before the door was opened. I'm walked Nelle. "Good morning beautiful. I just wanted to come let you know that Desiree is beee. I put her in the conference room. Margaret is expecting your notes from the interview no later than 1 because she has a flight to catch at 3:30."

Essence smiled. "Good morning love. Thank you. I'll be right over there."

"Great." Nellie gave her one last look before shutting the door.

Essence sighed and turned around to look at herself in the mirror. Her freshly done weave was styled perfectly. The bang fell in her face while her curls were full of volume. She sported a all red dress that stopped just above her knees that she paired with her black Christian Louboutin heels.

Standing up—she grabbed the case file and her notebook before heading out of her office. As she walked down the hall to the conference room—her heels clicked against the hardwood floor. When she reached the conference room, she pulled the door open. "Good morning Ms.Logan. I am Essence Brentwood. Today I'll be just asking a couple questions just for clarification." She smiled as she walked over to Desiree to shake her hand.

"Good morning." Desiree smiled.

Essence took her seat across from her. "So to my understanding you're being convicted of First-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of Collin Black. Your stepfather. Is that correct?" Essence looked up at her.

"Y-yes." The young girl said. Essence could tell that from just by the way she kept pulling at the ends of her hoodie, her puffy eyes, and her body language that the girl was having a rough time. Desiree was only 17 years old and had no one supporting her in this trial. Not even her mother.
