"Zoro! You shouted happily as you saw him coming, it was morning and he was coming to see you, you both had this routine to wake up early and spend the day together, mostly it was Zoro training, but you didn't mind, it was nice being with him.

"Hi (y/n), good morning..." Zoro said, but not as loud and excited as you did though.

"Zoro! Do you know what day is today?" You asked after reaching him, with an overly exited look on your face, hoping he'd remember it.

".... No....?" He asked looking at you muddled.

"It's been a year since we met!" You said, still overly excited.

"Yeah I know" He said, unbothered.

"I thought you'd be more excited than that..." you pouted looking away with my arms crossed.

"Oi, stop pouting"

"Hmph!"

"Look, I'd be more excited if you'd come with me to the d-"

"I already said I won't, why do you keep insisting?"

"I know you don't want to go, but why won't you even tell me the reason why? You're so secretive about everything!" Zoro said, starting to get angry

"I've told you a lot of things! I'm not secretive!" You insisted as you both started an argument.

"Yeah, you told me your name, your age your birthday, and stuff about your powers, but nothing more! You refuse to tell me anything about yourself except that, and I've pretty much told you everything about myself!" He was getting frustrated because you've known each other for a year and you wouldn't reveal anything about yourself.

"I don't like to talk about it! Leave it alone!"

"But why?!" Zoro insisted, shouting louder each frase he spoke.

"Because you wouldn't get it!" You shouted as tears started rolling down your face as you started to remember things you thought were long forgotten, "No one would ever understand!" You shouted at him before slowly getting up, looking at him back him, "You don't know what it feels like to live in fear!" you finally said before starting to run off.

"Live in... Fear?" He pondered to himself as he saw you run off.

"Wait! (y/n)-" You were too far away to hear Zoro, so he ran behind you. Zoro knew you were fast, as fast as him if not more, but he still tried to catch up to you, regretting saying that to you, he shouldn't have interfered with your concerns or with your life like that, it was none of his business, he was the one in the wrong here and he wanted to apologize for acting that way, and with luck you'd forgive him because he knew it was a sensitive topic, he shouldn't even have mentioned it to you in the first place.

"(y/n), wait!" Zoro said as he ran after you, but after a while (actually, it was pretty quickly but he doesn't like to admit it), Zoro got lost and didn't know where you or he was.

"(y/n)! (y/n), where are you?!" He shouted as he tried searching for you in his surroundings.

When you heard Zoro's voice you ran even faster to get away from him, you didn't even see where you were running off to, you were constantly wiping the tears from my eyes and crying, so much that you didn't even notice the river in front of you... You slipped in and fell into it, hitting my head right above your neck in the process, you couldn't do anything, not only because you hit your head, but because to your luck, it was a saltwater river, they were rare but still existed, so you were powerless and began to slowly drown, your consciousness already vanished, the only thing you could hope for at that moment was that Zoro would hear you falling and would come to get you out, but it was probably too late for that, and he hated you too, so all hope was lost for me.

"Y/n! y/-" Zoro turned back hearing a loud splash, "Y/n? Y/n!" He ran towards it as fast as he could, trying his best not to get lost as he remembered you had Devil Fruit Powers, he knew that the river close to the dojo was a saltwater river, and there were no lakes or ponds nearby so Zoro could only fear the worst.

After finally reaching the river Zoro wasted no time in jumping in, the currents weren't that strong so he knew you were near that area, and it helped that the river's water wasn't that dirty, so he could find you easier underwater. He spotted what looked like a red ribbon, slowly vanishing into the water as it led downwards, he followed it, quickly realizing it was blood, your blood, the blood coming out of your neck as he saw your unconscious body lying on the bottom of the river. He was quick to grab you and drag you back to dry land as he held your lifeless body, hoping you were still alive and that he wasn't too late.

"Y/n! Y/n, wake up! It's not time for playing games right now! Y/n!" He called your name as he was becoming more and more desperate, there was nothing he could do since he didn't know CPR nor any first aid techniques.

"Y/n, don't you dare die on me! Y/n..." Zoro started crying, this reminded him too much of Kuina and he couldn't take it, he lost her and he couldn't lose you too.

"Y/n... Please..." He cried more as he couldn't accept the current situation, you were the only person he could truly call a "friend", yes there were kids his age at the dojo, but they kinda feared him because he was always doing some extreme training, and they were no match for him in fights too, so even though he doesn't like to admit it, you were the only person who he could call "friend", especially after her death.

Suddenly you started puking out water, lots of it as you gasped for air.

"Y/n!" Zoro quickly wiped away his tears as he saw you wake up, "Baka! Don't scare me like that, I thought you died!"

You were still coughing as it was still hard to breathe, and you were still weak because you were still wet with the salt water of the river.

"I-I'm sorry, Zoro..." You said between coughs.

"Baka!... I'm the one... who should be apologizing..."

"My... my neck... it hurts..." you said, putting my hand on the spot where my neck hurt, in which you hit and was still bleeding out from, but before you could Zoro grabbed my hand.

"You're bleeding, don't touch that spot or it'll get worse" he said before ripping a part of his clothes and tying it around my head to stop the bleeding, he didn't know first aid so he guessed he needed to do that.

"Thanks, Zoro..."

(I need to mention I make mistakes calling the reader "I" and sometimes calling the reader "you" but they are both expressions that I use when talking about Y/n, just a heads up, I'll try to stop doing that but sometimes I do it without noticing, just a heads up)
