PART 14: Unexpected

After leaving the room, I head straight for the first place I want be at.

The library.

I will get my hands on that vampire law book now!

Charlotte might be there, but she is now fine with what I want to do there.

My walking is rapidly paced, swift, ignoring everything.

The door is there, it feels so close!

And also, I definitely need to take a look in that book about pet humans, the more I know the better.

I rush for the library, finally ready to unravel the meaning behind why I was taken as a pet, why vampires do this, while its nothing that has to do with the light in the basement, that is a completely different mystery I tend to unravel as well, but first I need to get to the basics.

but before I can reach the door, I am stopped.

Its... Hannah?

"Miss Hannah? Do you want something from me?"

"Pet, or should I say, Micheal, come with me please..."

What? What does she want from me?

"Um..."

"Obey me, pet! Do I have to get master Bastion?"

"Whoa! Okay, okay! I'll come along..."

She gives me a wink, similar to when I saw her leave my room this morning...

But still, what is it?

She leads me through a hall, away from the library.

That does not exactly make me comfortable...

She takes me into a sideroom somewhere.

There is not exactly a lot going on here...

The room is small, only has one torch on the wall for lighting, and there are only a two couches, some other dusty looking furniture and some wooden crates...

"Miss Hannah, what is this place?"

Hannah looks out like she is checking if anyone is in the hallway and shuts the door, turning to me.

"Micheal... we have to keep this brief. Okay? I can't be caught doing this."

"But what is it, Hannah? What is this room? Why did you bring me here?"

Hannah gestures me to sit down.

I do so.

"This is just a dusty unused room in the castle master where Bastion just stuffs whatever he doesn't need. And as for why I brought you here..."

She looks like she is about to say something very, very important... 

"I read your mind this morning, yes, that is why I winked."

"Um... what does that have to do with you taking me here?"

"I know that you are curious of what is in the basement, that light."

"That? Ok, i'm gonna be fully fair, I am indeed curious, don't vampires burn up in sunlight?"

Hannah looks at me like she is just as confused as me.

Strange...

"That is the thing, Micheal, I don't know either what is in there. Nobody but Halsey and master Bastion to my knowledge know it."

I am shocked.

So no one knows what is in there but Halsey and Bastion?

I almost stand up and try to say out loud what I think of this before she shushes me by placing her finger over my mouth.

"SHH! This has to remain between us! Both of us are in trouble if we are caught talking like this!"

Once I hear that I go silent in an instant.

Call me a simp, but I would do anything for Hannah, even stay silent.

"So... what are we going to do?"

"Here is the thing, Micheal... I... I also saw in your mind how you felt about me..."

I blush red.

"You... you do?"

She gives me a warm smile.

"I know... but that is not important now. Listen..."

My ears listen intently, I don't know what is up with Hannah, but it seems we have something in common.

We want to know what is going on in that darn basement and what is up with the not explained light there.

"So, I want to find out what is going on in there, and you too, right?"

"Well, yes, i'm curious... but its not like i'm really trying to figure out what is in there, I mean, I was unwillingly transported here some days ago, so..."

She sighs.

"Just... give it some thought, alright? I'll speak to you about this again in a few days."

"Well... alright, Hannah, i'll think about it."

"And don't say anything of this to anyone! This is between us!"

I am slightly taken back by her tone.

She means what she said.

"This will remain secret, miss Hannah, you can count on me!"

"Alright, I have to get back to my maid duties, think about it and remember, not a word!"

"Not a word, I understand."

She nods at me and opens the door, gesturing I have to leave first.

I give her a wink back and leave.

Alright, now, where did I want to go next?

Oh, right, the library!
