Break These Chains

Slavery-
Has never left this world.
I once cracked the gate,
I fell to temptation,
Now the gate is open.
There is an open door,
From the other side it,
Has been hurled.
Now my situation,
Has been broken,
Filled with defiling hate.
To take this thing out it,
Will require so much more.

Broken body of flesh,
I've desecrated it,
My bodily temple,
Covered in all this gore.
All that's left is a mesh,
A mesh of what,
Of what You made me for.
But mashed with,
The wreck I made of it.
Forgot Your principle
Preferring lies and myth
I've made such a deep cut.

It goes straight to the heart,
The venom of my blows,
They work to destroy me.
My life demands my death,
You knew this from the start.
Still You do not dispose,
Dispose of one like me.
In me there is still breath.
Oh God, I must admit,
I do not understand,
I cannot fathom it.
You are not of this land.

Oh God, You made this land.
Every good thing in it is,
The Creator's design.
What my heart has twisted,
You are here to realign.
Priorities amiss,
Will be made straight again.
Where I would have stumbled,
You will help me to stand.
Where I would have been lost,
I can follow Your plan.
So mine should be tossed.

I believe it is true,
Oh God, it is true that,
I could be free in You.
I know that I once spat,
My denial must have,
Have torn Your heart of love.
But You tore it for me.
The temple curtains too.
The barrier You halve,
That I may hope and see,
If You would help me to,
Help me to look above.
Look to Thee.
