The next day, Uzair came to meet me. I had no interest in what he had to say. I just stood silent.
Uzair : I have a confession to make. Before I was your friend, I was Kausar's. I had this jealousy since I was a teen. I had interest in starting a business.
Uzair : I had high hopes and strategies to start one. But I had no money, no money to start with. Upon analysing, Jacob got a database of me, one of Kausar's friend.
Uzair : He bribed me into becoming a bureau and gave me extra money to side hustle. I don't feel like I did anything wrong.
Uzair : The fact that he just wanted to be a mediocre engineer infuriated me even more.
Uzair: People with privilege just waste it on lavish cars, clothes or just have a simple career path. They don't care about people with potential.
Me : But why did you accuse me? Why are you hurting innocent people?
Uzair : I don't care about others. Would they care if I'm broke? Would they care if I die? So why do I have to care about them?
His lack of empathy and care truly infuriated me. There's nothing I could do about the killers of Kausar.
With a corrupted leader, justice is often foreshadowed by money. An ordinary person like me can't do anything about it.
Author's note : Do you think what Uzair did was right?
