"Movie marathon b*tches!" Luke exclaims as he bursts through my door, pizza and several DVDs in his hands.

"Hey! No swearing!" I tell him off, and give him a stern look. He rolls his eyes, walking towards my sofa but trips and falls on his way there. My eyes widen as the two boxes of pizza fly through the air, as if in slow motion. Luke watches helplessly from the ground as the pizzas come ever closer to the floor and their cheesey doom.

I rush forward and catch both of them, one in each hand. I grin, turning to Luke, who sighs in relief. "You really are my hero," he jokes.

I roll my eyes, placing the pizzas on the table in front of us and go through the DVDs Luke brought.

"Superman, Amazing Spiderman, Batman, X men," I read the titles aloud.

I look at Luke with my eyebrows raised, saying "I'm sensing a pattern here."

"Hey, I have to educate myself for next time," he sheepishly tells me, sitting on the sofa awkwardly.

I play one, chuckling, "You learn on the job, not by watching Hugh Jackman in a tight suit."

"Hey, I'm not complaining," he chuckles, getting comfortable on the couch.

I open one of the pizza boxes, "Eww Hawaiian. Pineapple and pizza is just wrong."

"Oh my God, you're one of those people. Don't be a hater. Pizza equality," he said, rolling his eyes.

I open another box, which is just plain cheese pizza, thank God. I smile as I take a slice, chewing quickly, not realizing how hungry I was until now. Luke grins, stealing a piece and winking cheekily when I glare at him.

"I hate you so much, what the heck?"

He flicks me off and I laugh, scooting a little closer to him, so our thighs are touching. I rest my arm on the back of the sofa, so if I moved a little I'd have my arm wrapped around his shoulder.

And it's not weird. None of it is. It feels so natural to be near him, to talk to him. We instantly clicked, which is nice, since I never really had too many friends.

We're not even half way through the movie when my phone starts to ring. I quickly grab it, grinning at the caller ID.

"Smash, we need you," the female voice tells me.

"What's wrong?" I lean forward in my seat, ready to jump up as Luke looks at me, concerned.

"It seems a certain superhero has forgotten about his own anniversary party with the mayor."

I faceplam, "Oh, crap. That was today? I'll be there in ten minutes," I get up then add, "Can I bring Luke?"

"Who?"

"You know, Dr. Fluke. My new sidekick. He was with me after that car crash."

"Okay, whatever, bring him if you want. Just get to the city hall."

I hang up then look to Luke, "Do you have a tux, kid?"

"I don't think this fits properly," Luke complains as he pulls down the sleeves of the blazer.

"It's not my fault you're a six foot giant who won't fit into my clothes," I retort, taking a small sip of champagne. I watch the small crowd of the richest people in the city, all dressed up in fancy suits and dresses.

They mingle, exchanging meaningless pleasantries and small talk. I've tried to avoid talking to anyone but Luke all night, but its hard when people keep approaching me, shaking my head and giving me fake grins.

I leave Luke and go back for another canapé, hoping for something with a name I could pronounce. Honestly, I would have preferred burgers or candy or something.

"What kind of party is this without pizza? Or cake?" A voice behind me loudly exclaims.

I turn around and grin, "Michael! I was wondering when you'd show up!"

The boys smiles back and calls over his shoulder, "Calum! I've found him!"

Calum arrives at his side, taking a bite of the food Michael has on his plate, "Ha! We finally cornered you, you sneaky bástard."

"Nice to see you too. You guys look great in tuxedos," I tell them, looking them up and down. They both pout and pose, flipping their imaginary long hair as I chuckle.

Luke appears beside me, "Hey Ash."

"Oh. Hi, Luke."

I turn to Michael and Calum, who both have their eyebrows raised, and I scowl at them, "Luke, this is Michael and Calum. Michael and Calum this is Luke."

Luke awkwardly shakes their hands, and I chuckle at his slightly embarrassed face but continue, "Michael is also known as Mike-Ro-Wave, and Calum is his sidekick, Cal Pal."

Calum scowls, "I'm not his sidekick! Why does everyone think that?"

Michael shrugs but says casually "Well I top so....."

Calum's cheeks turn red in embarrassment, "How many times do I have to tell you, Michael? We do not discuss our private life in front of people!"

Luke squeals, "Oh my god, Malum is real! I'm fanboying so hard right now!" He clears his throat, composes himself then says with a deeper voice, "I mean- um, it's so nice to meet you guys. I definitely do not have a poster of any of you in my room. I should probably stop talking now."

We laugh at his awkwardness as he covers his blushing face with his hands. I pull his hands from his face, smiling at him comfortingly, "Let's get out of here. This party sucks anyway."

And the four of us leave, just as the mayor begins his long, boring speech. We drive out of the city, going to a town where no one knows us. Where we can just be ourselves. Where we're not superheroes, just normal teenage boys.

Because even though I love being Smash, sometimes its nice just to be Ashton again.
