Luke's POV:
Who is Fluke? Smash and Mystery Superhero Save Two Teens From Car Accident
"You've got to be kidding me," I said when I saw the article appear on my screen.
Of course he's in the news. Because Ashton's in the news, and Ashton's famous. I knew that there was no going back now.
"Fix us."
There was one problem. I didn't exactly know how. A small part of me felt like the whole superhero thing was all just luck or what I got out of being nice and wanting to help someone out of generosity. I never expected that he would be having to deal with situations like this, where I would be considered an actual hero and actually save someone's life. As happy as I am that I'm actually helping out people and doing some good in the world, I just feel like it's a lot of pressure, feeling like you have to be the person who fixes everything and saves the day and if you don't do something about it, you feel nothing but absolute guilt, and you do this as a job. In addition to that, you have to deal with all the fame and the fortune. Yeah, it's nice being recognized for doing a good deed and all, but being constantly asked for pictures and autographs and having people screaming your name and running after you all the time just seems so exhausting. It's not like you're in a band or an actor or anything like that. All you're doing is saving someone and trying your best to fix a situation that could've gone wrong without your help. That's how I see it at least. I don't know how Ashton is able to deal with this all the time.
I looked up at the television which was showing a news broadcast. I had nothing better to do than just watch it and hide from everything else. The building behind the news anchor looked kind of familiar...
"I'm here live from a local hospital in New York City."
Shit.
She went on about the situation that went on earlier with Michael and Calum and then someone appeared on the screen - Ashton.
So that's what Ashton was doing. Soaking up all the fame and fortune.
"So word around the block is that you have a sidekick now? We saw someone with you a few times recently and are dying to know who he is," the reporter said enthusiastically, handing the microphone off to Ashton, "What's his name again?"
"Oh. Um, he's just some kid who probably wanted to steal my spotlight and fix the situation before I could. I don't know him," Ashton said, as if he didn't regret a single word.
My jaw dropped. What Ashton had said pissed me off as much as it shocked me.. I helped out too. I was the one who did the work and looked after Michael and Calum to make sure they were okay and what does Ashton do? Run off and go take pictures and sign autographs and do whatever else he wants to because everyone loves him, and even worse, takes all the credit when I did some of the work myself. As much as I would hate being famous, Ashton should have at least said that I helped him, rather than acting as if I did nothing at all and pretending that I wasn't even there.
What have I gotten myself into?
Author's Note: Okay, I know I haven't updated in such a long time. I'm hoping to finish this story by the end of the year, along with Fame. I'm getting back into writing more on here and I'm excited to see how these stories are going to turn out.
