"Happy Thanksgiving" Mari's mom said as she opened the door

Me and Mari sat down on the couch while my sister played on her iPad. My grandparents and Namari's parents were talking so we just waited for the food to be done with
"I'm surprised my mom ain't cook Jamaican dishes" Mari looked at me
"Nah same" I laughed
"We still going to Lani house after this?" She asked
"You want to?" I asked back
"Yea" She looked up
"Aigh" I opened up my phone
"The food is ready guys" My grandmother said to us
I hopped up cause I was hungry as shit. I went into the kitchen going to the seat and washed my hands. Namari followed after me doing the same thing. I got a section plate and started with some mac, ham, turkey, meatballs, and collard greens
"Youn get stuffing?" Namari asked and I scrunched up my face
"Oh nah that's nasty." I twisted my lip as she put some on her plate
"You missing out" She laughed
"Nah I'm good on that" I shook my hand
After we got our food we all sat at the table and said grace. I dug straight in cause I ain't eat all day. I was waiting for this moment. I was eating quick until my grandma started staring at me, then I slowed down
"You ain't eat all day huh?" Mari laughed at me
"Nah I ain't" I downed my drink
"You something else Jayveon" She bit into her ham
"Daddy, me and Jay can go to Lani house later?" Mari looked at her dad
"As long as it's ok with Jayveon's grandparents" Her father replied
My grandma put her hand out saying it was ok. Me and Mari had finished our food and I was bloated as hell. It looked like I had lean gut, Mari went up the stairs and I followed her. She changed out her jeans and put on some shorts
She slipped back on her crocs and grabbed her keys and her purse. We headed down the stairs sais our goodbyes and headed out the door. We got in the car and Mari started blasting her music then pulled off
