Exiting lightspeed, the freighter slowed down, leaving the three of us alone in the vastness of space. My eyes wander to the back window, the black void evolving the ship, only distance specks displaying any sign of life.
The Mandalorian rose from the pilot seat and moved into the cabin. As he walked, he adjust his helmet and refastens a strap around his leg. From below, he retrieves a blaster, holding his finger over the trigger as he stalked.
Before I could thank him for the escape, the Mandalorian lifted the gun and fired at the stormtrooper. I screamed in terror as the blast sent the stormtrooper's body slamming back against the chair. The Mandalorian raised the gun once more, delivering a blow to the boy's head with the buttstock. He falls forward, the seats belt keeping him upright, his white chest plate now charred from the plasma beam.
"You shot him!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with disbelief. I quickly unclipped my seat belt and rushed to the stormtrooper's side. Checking for breath, I lifted my ear to his mouth and heard a faint exhale. His heartbeat was weak but steady.
Looking up at the Mandalorian, I felt anger and confusion. "Why? Why would you do this?" I demanded.
"I kill you too."
"What?!" I jump up, backing away from the Mandalorian, the gun raised at me. "You are going to kill me for what?"
"You are annoyance." I feel the barrel rest against my chest, the Mandalorian's finger hovering to reload his gun. My hands rest against the wall within his sight, him aware I had no means to fight.
With a swift motion of my foot, I unleash a wave of the Force, flowing across the floor it unbalances him. He fires his blaster, the ray missing me and hitting the wall behind. I let out a yelp, ducking as a the light seers by my arm.
From the corner of my eye, I see my lightsaber. With a focused mind, I call on my weapon, it finds my hand. As it crackles to life, I realise I am now lying over the Mandalorian, our legs tangled, my arm pressing against his chest for support. The humming blade of the lightsaber suspended over his neck, any moment I could slice his head off.
I stare into the darkness of his visor, his face hidden somewhere beneath his helmet.
"I yield. I yield," he whispers, feeling the heat against his body. I rise from the floor, retracting my lightsaber and dropping into my holster. Watching carefully, I move across the cabin away from the Mandalorian, the man stowing his blaster.
"You try to kill people who save you? I shot those TIE fighter, the stormtrooper fixed the electrical outlet."
"If you not on board, we would no have these problems."
"You Mandalorians are despicable! Greed creatures who only want money."
"And yous Jedis do not rule Sith? Killing millions." I ignore the man, directing my attention back to the stormtrooper.
"Why did you save me?" I tuck back the boy's scruffy hair, my fingers brushing over his forehead. His face is soft, with round cheeks that display his youth. My question is interrupted by coughing and his eyes open slowly. Holding his chin in my hand, I lift his head. "Hello? Are you okay?"
"Mmph," he mumbles.
"Maybe is mute?" The Mandalorian proposes.
"You are safe. Hello?" His eyes widen and his breath quickens.
"I-I..."
"Yes, you are safe."
"Di'kut."
"I am trying to be encouraging and do not appreciate any insults you may have," I glance at the Mandalorian, who leans against a wall, his posture conveying frustration.
