Chapter 4: white ball

"Snoreeeee.. snoreeeeee aaaaaaaahhh choooo" "more snoring....." pop! . "H-huh!?" "Your finally awake" sephy said gently shaking hikari's shoulder. "What time is it..." hikari mumbled rubbing her eye. Sephy flicked her finger and pulled out a screen that showed the time. "15° till daylight or as you humans perceived it 6:am" sephy said closing the screen. "Oh... well I'm going back to sleep then" hikari simply said as she rested her head on sephy's shoulder and began to drift off again. "No you can't sleep!" Sephy said poking hikari's nose. "Ow" hikari whined holding her nose. "While you were asleep a guard came and said he's bringing us to see the supreme leader at sunrise" sephy said. "Can't I sleep a little longer..?" Hikari complained. "We need to devise a plan for what we are going to do when we meet the leader" sephy said squishing her finger into Hikari's cheek. "Why do you poke and prod at my face so much sephy" hikari huffed. "Because it's fun I've never got to play with a human before" she smiled as she poked hikari's cheek again. "I'm not a cat you know!" Hikari said shaking her head. Sephy simply chuckled lightly as she put her hand down. "Anyways let's think of a plan" sephy said as she pulled out a screen. "I'll look at some things other gods did to gain faith points." Sephy said as she swiped through the screen. Hikari couldn't see what she was looking at so she guessed the contents of the screen could only be revealed to the user. "Ah here! It says here we have to create a human that is destined to be the new king." Sephy said reading the screen. "Then what was the point of getting arrested." Hikari pouted. "I was thinking we could just fight him, ya know?" Sephy said looking over at hikari. "And if that doesn't work..?" Hikari asked skeptical of sephy. "Then we would do the destiny thing" sephy said simply. "Fine we'll try and fight this leader" hikari said. "To be honest I don't think we have enough enough faith points to fight him but who knows you might surprise me hi-ka-riiiii!" Sephy said with a mischievous smile.  Hikari simply made a groaning sound as she shook her head. "You have no hope in my powers" hikari sighed. "We'll use those chants i taught you" sephy smiles. "The ones I failed to use?" Hikari pouts. "Yep!" Sephy said enthusiastically clasping her hands together. "I can't believe my angel is like this" hikari mumbles.

Soon a guard opened their cell grabbing the chains of their cuffs and leading them off. This was a new guard he was much bigger and stronger than any carnamite they'd seen before even bigger than the one that had arrested them yesterday. "im scared is the king gonna be even bigger?" Hikari whispered to sephy. "I've never seem them" sephy shrugged her shoulders as she said this. "Be so for real right now!" hikari whisper shouted turning her head away from sephy. "Quiet elf!" The guard shouted his tail whipping the floor loudly. "Eep!" Hikari blurted out. "Haha" sephy said in that usual flat voice she had with that same grin. "The leader is waiting for you guys don't make them wait" the guard said tugging on the chains. As they made their way through the underground tunnels of gouhandra a guard held a lamp to light the way. Soon they began walking up stairs passing by more unfortunate mostly elf's locked in cages. As they stared up at hikari a glimmer of hope shined in their eyes. "Fated one! God of this world!" An elf shouted running up to the bars and gripping them tightly. "Please you have to help us fated one!" The elf shouted. "Shut up!" A guard yelled kicking the cage. The elf going silent as it mumbled in pain. Hikari's eyes widening as she looked over at sephy who was simply looking down quietly as they followed the guard. "Sephy..?" Hikari whispered tapping her shoulder. "It's okay hikari. This happens in every universe it's unavoidable" sephy said looking back up at hikari and patting her back gently. "Ooh..." hikari sighed looking down.. "but reform always happens and things get better." Sephy continued with a a small weak smile. "Okay.." hikari smiled in relief. Soon the walls of dirt turned to stone and they found themselves in a castle. Walking down the long red carpets of the stone rocked walls and floors they stared up at large murals on the ceilings and tapestries hanging from the roof tops show casing different aspects of the carnamite life. One tapestry in specific show cased what looked like a regular human there face isn't visible but you can see their hair and the fine silk garments they were wearing. It seemed as though it depicted hikari creating the universe but this tapestry was damaged and not well kept. As they continued to walk through they entered a place that resembled a court room but of course a midevil one as the wood floors creaked beneath them held together by long rusted nails and carpet made of what looked like giant spider fur. Standing before them on a high podium was... a girl? "You elf, you dare infiltrate my kingdom and steal!?" She said confidently pointing down at hikari. She had strange looking ears she appeared to be a carnamite but her ears were almost deformed and there seemed to be small pointed skin like things poking out of her carnamite ears, her tail rather short.  "I should punish you greatly for this.. do you have a death wish? And you dare Brain wash one of our lovely carnamite sisters too!?" She says crossing her arms that same highly proud look on her face as she interrogated hikari from high up atop her podium. Looking over to sephy hikari whispered. "I thought the leader was boy" hikari mumbled looking up at the leader unamused. "She doesn't look scary at all.. that's basically a child.." sephy snickered looking back and forth between hikari and the leader. "W-What's so funny elf..?" The leader said in a more insecure voice then their usual proud self. Placing her hands on the railings of her podium and staring down at hikari and sephy. "I just thought you'd be a little more scary" sephy said with a smirk laughing slightly after. "A-ah.. How dare you!" She said angrily smacking the hand rail. "I..I-i oughta have you beheaded if you weren't a carnamite!" She said her face turning a reddish color as her ears lowered to her head and her tailed curled behind her. "Anyways.. court precedings need to go on.." she said looking off to the side her face still red in embarrassment. Opening up a screen much like sephy and hikari could she swiped through the countries documents finding the one labeled "elf thieves" the screen looked much like hikari and sephy's but it was more ancient and not as refined as the ones the gods used. "Ah here, so.. the elf is sentenced to life in prison and the carnamte community service." She said closing the screen and waving a hand for the guards to take them away. "Community service!?" Hikari yelled pushing through the guards to get closer to the podium. "You gave HER community service!? Why do I have to go to jail!" Hikari said furiously crossing her arms and furrowing her brows unamused. "Well your and elf and she's a carnamite what about it?" The supreme leader said throwing a grape in her mouth as she relaxed in her lavish chair. "That's not fair we commuted the same crime!" Hikari pouted. "So?" Was all that could be heard throughout the room. "You, your a terrible, racist, hateful leader! You shouldn't even be leader in the first place!" Hikari screamed suddenly pausing as she realized what she had said. Shrinking down she slowly stepped backwards hiding behind sephy. "... what." The girl said stopping and dropped the grape she was about to eat. Throwing on a more serious look she slowly walked up to the podium once more her tail starting to grow in length and the marking on her skin beginning to glow. "What did you say..?" She said with a smile tapping the handrail. "Uhh... your a lovely, not racist, loving leader?" Hikari said in an innocent voice with a nervous broken smile. "Fine.... If you can win against me in a duel I'll reduce your sentence..." she said with a small smile as she looks down at hikari. Sighing with a "phew" hikari relaxed. "Ah good I was worried" she said beaming. "I wasn't down yet" the supreme leader said in a more serious tone once more. "If you lose.. your sentenced to death.. got it?" She said her smile widening a little more as she walked off. "Death?" Hikari said in a small voice looking at sephy nervously. "Death?" Hikari said turning to look at sephy her face going pale. Sephy simply looked at hikari with a straight face as guards tugged on their chains and took them away. "The goal was to enter a duel with the supreme leader though I never thought it'd turn out this way" sephy said deep in thought as the guards dragged them along through the halls. "Do I have to use a sword!? I don't know how to use a sword sephy!?" Hikari continued to whine in fear as tears seeped from her eyes. "I don't wanna die sephyyyyyyy" hikari cried out as she held onto sephy's shoulder. To sephy, hikari sounded like a whiney little girl crying over dropping candy or something. Sighing sephy turned to hikari. "You're not gonna die hikari." She said softly before continuing on. "I'll lend you some of my angel expense points to make you stronger but I'll get weaker.. still it should be enough combined with the pleadings of your uhh elf fanbase. As you humans call it" sephy said patting hikari's shoulder. Sniffling slightly hikari looked down at her feet as she walked before back at sephy. "Okay, but I'll work my hardest to get the points back for you" she said in a crying voice wiping her eyes with her adventurers clothes. The guards were all too silent as they placed sephy and hikari in their own separate cages closing the doors more gently as they did so. Some guards even offered them food as they awaited battle while others gave fighting tips even though they all knew deep down that these two weren't gonna make it. "I didn't know these carnamite guards had hearts" hikari huffed crossing her arms. "They think we're going to die" sephy said leaning against the bars of the cage that faced Hikari's. "Come here. I'm going to give you my points now" sephy said waving a hand and looking behind her to make sure nobody's watching. Walking up to the cage bars and leaning against them she looked at sephy. "Hmm?" Hikari said tooting her head to the side. "Give me your hand" sephy whispered to hikari. Extending her hand through the bars to reach sephy's they held hands. Sephy would then go on to chant a weird spell much like the gods did but this one was much longer drawn out and the light that travelled to hikari's hand was much more dull. Once the light dissapeared a small ring appeared on Hikari's hand. It was a golden ring simple enough with no gems just simple engravings along the edges. "Am I proposing to you? No this is similar to the gold bracelet yuro gave you" sephy said gently placing her other hand atop hikari's. "I didn't think you were!" Hikari shout whispered back her cheeks flushing a red slightly before returning to normal color. "Hmm, well anyways this ring is a little different." Sephy said with a smile. "Instead of faith points it's a smaller currency called angel expense points much like real currency. Angel points are cents and faith points are bills!" Sephy said still holding hikari's hand. "How many of these do we have?" Hikari asked looking at sephy. "It's not a definitive number more so we can use these points until I disappear" sephy smiled. "You disappear!?, what!" Hikari shouted by accident before quickly clasping her hands over her mouth. "Yeah.. about that these points I gave you equal to my life time so each time we use them I lose about 100 years I think?" Sephy said deep in thought. "100 years!?" Hikari said in a distressed voice. "No no, it's okay us angels usually live for a long time I mean I've tehcnically been alive 45,000 years it's just I didn't gain consciousness until you died..." sephy said innocently. "But what if this fight requires too much of your power" hikari says sadly holding both of sephy's hands again. Sephy looks down deep in thought her face changing multiple times before looking back at hikari with a weak smile. "I'm sure that won't happen" sephy says before a guard comes over and unlocks both of their cages dragging them out. "The battle is to start soon goodluck going carnamite and... elf.." the guard said as he patted sephy's head and simply looked over at hikari. Hikari simply sighed shaking her head and crossing her arms. "Move along now, the battle will be in the great fighting center" the guard said dragging hikari and sephy by chains once more through the castle as they made their way to a special part of the castle. Coming out of the dark of the castle to the light they were blinded by hundreds of carnamite alike surrounding them in high up seats. "Who do you thinks gonna win" one spoke from high up in the stands waving a wad of gold in his hands. "Supreme lead duh" another carbamite spoke shaking a bag of what looked like more gold. "Carnamites alike, rejoice at the sight of your king!" Someone spoke from atop the stands. Looking up hikari and sephy could see the supreme leader in battle armor. Her tail still longer than usual and her skin marks glowing a bright pink color. All the carnamites stood and roared with cheer at the leaders words baring their fangs. The king did the same baring her fangs with a evil smile. "Why she call herself a king" sephy said with an amused sarcastic snile. Hikari was silent on the other hand as carnamitesb gripped the railings of the stands in excitement. "Kill them!" Some carnamites yelled with the most evil faces hikari had ever seen while others stood with their arms crossed silently watching the scene unfold. "Let's see what our dead meat contestants have to say" the leader said her tail swaying slowly behind her as her claws dug into the railings of her podium. The podium was damaged so it seemed as though battles like this happened often. The baren sand of the ground let wind pick sand up in their eyes blinding hikari for a few moments. "Ow.." hikari mumbled for a few moments until she suddenly heard her voice projected around the whole stadium. "Oh.. uh, sephy..?" She said looking over to sephy. Leaning over towards hikari sephy whispered something in Hikari's ear. "Oh, right we are going to win yeah" hikari said awkwardly clasping her hands together. "Well see about that" the leader continued proudly getting up on the railings and extending an arm into the air. "Start the battle!" She said excitedly as she jumped down to the stadium making a loud thud sound. Landing on one knee she slowly stood up to face hikari and sephy. She was quite small but as she walked up to them she began to grow in stature until she finally towered over them. Circling them slowly she pulled a dagger out of her scabbered which was attached to her leg. As she pulled the dagger out she angled it towards hikari and sephy. "Today is renewed is reborn" she said as she slowly walked towards sephy and hikari with her dagger pointing at their necks. Hikari began to step backwards but sephy stayed put. Soon hikari set off in a full sprint as the leader began to chase after her. "Get back here elf! Don't be fearful for you'll be unharmed by me! At least not yet" she said whilst laughing devilishly as she chased hikari around the stadium. Carnamites in the crowd stood up and some began to smack the railings in excitement as they watched. "Stop running!" Some yelled from the stands. "Help me I don't know any spell!!" Hikari shouted as sephy was now chasing after her and the leader. "Just think go what you want to do and it'll work!"'sephy said still chasing after them. Running in circles hikari began to imagine and soon a screen appeared in front of her. The screen had a list of attacks on it. "Got you!" The leader said as she pounced on hikari knocking her to the ground.freezing in fear she looked between the screen and the supreme leader as she was being held down. Slowly the leaders tail twisted and turned around hikari's arms a small sharp end angling itself at Hikari's neck. "USE A SPELL!" Sephy shouted cupping her hands over her mouth to further increase the volume of her voice. "use a spell hikari!"'she shouted. Waking up from her frozen fear she read one of the spells. "Uh, blaze!" She shouted as she blaze of flames surrounded her and the supreme leader. Jumping backwards off of hikari the supreme leader shouted in pain as flames began to burn her fur and arms. "What is this!" She shouted angrily staring down at hikari in fear. "I'm sorry!l hikari said standing up and making a run for it again. "Get back here! I will kill you!" The leader said clutching one of her burned arms and running after hikari. The crowd had gone almost silent as silent murmurs could be heard but they continued to watch the battle. "Good! Use another one!" Sephy said running after hikari again. For a long while hikari stayed dodging the supreme leaders attacks using the spells she created steppingstone stone in the air for her to run on and more fireballs were thrown. "I didn't want to use this.." the leader said as she suddenly stepped back her fur completely charred and black smudges on her cheeks. All the carnamite in the crowd had gone completely silent at their kings state. "Sephy stood in front of hikari as she watched the leader closely. Leaders body began to contort and change as her tail  grew longer and thicker and and pinkly colored flames bursted from her ears. The marks on her body grew and stretched across her now as her clothes began to tear from how much she was growing. Ina. Renewed and revitalized state long sharp pink horns stuck out of her arms as her fangs were now pink at the tips and just barely visible from a closed mouth. Her voice was strange and monster like sounding as her hair grew longer and her eyes changed to a more animalistic look. "You won't be sentenced to death for you shall die here and now!" She shouted stabbing her dagger into the ground and unsheathing a much longer and sharper scythe that seemed to have come directly out of her back. Holding it at her side she began to slowly walk up to hikari and sephy from afar. Her presence terrifying as some spectators refused to look and others continued to cheer despite their apparent fear. "Lilac master of sharp edges and king of the carnamites" she spoke as she slowly approached them. "Now die!" She said as she ran toward them then her scythe at her side. She was faster than usual zipping across the battle field as her long hair glowed and flowed behind her. Using the screen hikari spawned her own weapon though she didn't know what she was doing she began to parry and counter lilacs attacks. "Since when could elf's fight so well?" Lilac spoke as her scythe whispered against the wind making attempts to cut hikari's neck. "I will behead you!" She shouted with an animalistic look in her eyes. "I don't wanna die!!" Hikari cried as swang her weapon around in confusion. "Now I have you!" Lilac spoke as she swung her scythe low to hikari's stomach. Hikari didn't have enough time to jump back losing her eyes as she prepared to feel the scythe glide through her skin but instead she opened her eyes to see sephy standing infront of her. Weakened gravely her eyes were sunken in and her once glowing illuminated skin grown pale. Sephy looking back at hikari a small white liquid poured from her stomach and brimmed the corners of her mouth as she fell over. Hikari could only slowly step back as she saw sephy on the ground white liquid pouring from her and surrounding her body. Falling to her knee's she waved her hands over sephy's body unsure of what to do as tears brimmed her eyes.  "Oh how pitiful, it seems your little carnamite minion sacrificed her self for you?" Lilac smirked as she swung her scythe in circles behind her. "It's sweet that she did that for you really... but don't expect me to spare you.." she said as her dissapointed face grew to a vicious smile once more. Hikari was just about ready to give up after sephy's death as her head hung low and tear droplets soaked the sand around them. The crowd growing silent as they all watched in anticipation. "What's wrong? You can't fight anymore?" Lilac said leaning over to get a better look at hikari. "Boring.. get up and finish this" she said in a disgusted voice kicking hikari in the head. Falling back onto her back she looked up at lilac with a blank expression her eyes empty as tears continued to pour and pour from her face almost as if her head was leaking. "I said fight me!" Lilac yelled a little louder as she kicked hikari again. "Fight me, fight me, fight me!" She stomped her feet against the sandy ground kicking up dust around them. "Fine." Hikari said as she stood up but she was different. Her head hung off to the side as a multitude of screens quickly spawned surrounding her. Kicking up wind around them dust blinded the whole arena as Hikari's eyes began to glow a dim light and the tears pouring from her eyes shifted to white. "I'll fight you" she said in a voice that didn't sound of her own as she clasped her palms together. Slowly pulling them apart a long polearm began to form. Glistening in the light it matched her clothes resembling that of porcelain silk with tufts of fur on the egdes. "And I'll defeat you!" Hikari said angling the weapon at lilac. Waving the weapon around with much more precision each swing caused large gusts of wind to blow lilac back as spectators clutched their seats. With one swift movement hikari sent a series of wind slices lilacs way. Unable to get away in time the the wind knives cut her one by one leaving her bleeding a normal red blood from her sides and arms. Stepping over sephy's body hikari began to slowly walk closer to Lilac her weapon pointed at her. "I won't let you kill me! For I am king!" Lilac began to shout her eyes wide in fear as she lifted her scythe once more in the air. "I won't kill you.." hikari said her voice vibrating around the arena. "that's not what gods do?" Hikari said before she lifted her polearm on the air heavenly light shining down on it as she sent one swift cut across the stadium lilacs way. To others it seemed like a huge ray of light before fading away to a large cut in the stadium as a whole. The whole arena was cut in half as lilac stood there her eyes slowly fading out as she fell to her kneels. Hikari simply looked at her before turning and walking to sephy. More white tears fell from her eyes but her face remained straight and blank as she kneeled down in front of sephy. Placing her hand on sephy's back she closed her eyes as a dim glow appeared from her hands and a chant in a language unknown to this world could be heard. Sephy's body slowly began to revert as her skinned began to glow vibrantly again and her eyes returned to normal. "Wake up" hikari said in a tone of calm as she stood up and looked down at sephy. Blinking her eyes open sephy sat up touching her stomach before groaning in pain a little. "Owww hikari why didn't you at least heal my wound" sephy whined as she held her stomach with her hands. Standing up sephy walked over to hikari while still clutching her stomach placing her hand on hikari's shoulder. "But.. thanks for saving me.." sephy said with a shy smile. Hikari stared at sephy blankly for a few moments before her eyes went back to normal. "H-huh.. oh sephy your alive!" Hikari said excitedly as she hugged sephy tightly. "Yeah you revived me duh? You don't rememb- hey! Ow ow my wounds are still open!" Sephy squealed in pain as hikari couldn't help but squeeze her tightly. The crowd soon stood up as cheers could be heard from the stands accompanied by clapping and some carnamites howling. "Awooooo!!!!" Was heard from a far as hikari could see lilac standing up from far away with a defeated look on her face. "What happened last I remembered you died.." hikari asked looking at sephy while still holding her. "You ask me I was dead?" Sephy remarked with a cheeky smile. "I see your back to your old self." Hikari said sarcastically letting go of sephy. "Hee hee" sephy smirked scratching the back of her head. "You've earned your freedom elf.." lilac said softly with her head down. "Ah! Where'd you come from!?" Hikari exclaimed jumping backwards. "I will step down as king.." lilac said dropping her scythe. "oh.." hikari said a little confused as she looked at lilac. "You won.." lilac said once more her ears lowering in shame.
