Chapter 12: Nothing good happens in the basement

-Gekko's pov-

It's only the second round but something just feels so wrong. The Omega agents are playing so much more violent than usual. I noticed they all had this sort of choker thing around their necks, I wonder if they are being controlled by someone and who it would even be. I tried to suggest to the team that we surrender so we don't have to fight in these odd conditions but Deadlock shot that idea down as soon as I suggested it.

I got blinded by an enemy Yoru when I hear a loud crashing sound followed by Chamber's sniper shooting and just barely missing me. I turn and run for cover behind a crate when I look up seeing the dome arena falling and crumbling. What the fuck is going on?

Running from shots fired by Omega Earth, I try to communicate to anyone through comms but either communication was cut or my comms were broken. Eventually, I ran into the rest of the team, Phoenix, Breach, Fade, and Deadlock all seemed to be in good condition, so that was a plus.

SPIKE PLanterd

The arena voice lady's voice sounded busted as hell.

"We have to defuse the spike," Deadlock flatly states to the group.

"No way, that ain't safe," I snap back. "We can always go retrieve the stolen radianite from them later. The arena collapsed, who knows if we can respawn if we die now."

"Yeah he's right," Breach replies, shifting his weight from one foot to another.

"It's not worth the risk," Fade added.

"We can play safe and still defuse the spike," Deadlock continues.

"I'm with Gekko on this one. Let's just go back to base and go get em another day," Phoenix replied.

Deadlock decided to walk off in the direction of the spike despite the unanimous decision to retreat.

It was near seconds till the spike exploded, me and the others had been vigorously fighting against the deranged Omega Earth agents.

"Deadlock we have to go!" I shout.

"We still have time, I can make it!" She shouts back amidst the loud chaos surrounding us.

Breach had run up behind and gently grabbed her arm telling her something about needing to get out of here, I couldn't hear exactly what he was saying because it was really loud, mainly because of all the gunfire from the Omega agents. They were just shooting at anything and everything. I don't know how they haven't run out of ammo.

After what felt like an eternity, Deadlock had finally agreed to retreat, however while we were running, the spike detonated earlier than it should. I was now in a full blown sprint to get out of the way of the spike when all of a sudden something wraps around my waist and yanks me backwards.

I don't even have time to react before I get pulled straight into the wall, effectively knocking me out.

I wake up to bright lights in my face. A lamp quite literally pointing directly in my face. Eyes adjusting I have no idea where I am, what time it is, what's happening, or anything. All I  know is that I am tied down to the chair I'm sitting on. Chain's around my legs and hand, tied way too tight. 

"Bout time you woke up" some voice says. I look around trying to find the source of the voice, Cypher moves into my field of vision and moves the light in my face to point to a different direction.

Cypher's voice cut through the silence again. "You have answers I need,"

I clenched my jaw, refusing to meet Cypher's gaze. "I don't owe you any explanations."
