Back at the base, Gekko paced restlessly. He tried to distract himself with anything he could find, working out, cleaning his gear, even attempting to read a book. But nothing could keep his mind from wandering back to his girlfriend and the team. He decided to go to Brim's office and listen into their comms to give him peace of mind.
Meanwhile, the rest of the agents arrived at the new soon to be map, Abyss. Over comms, Brimstone had decided to only send in three agents to the ground. Iso, Clove, and Omen all departed from the choppers, leaving the other agents securing aerial positions, ready to provide backup if necessary.
The ruins glistened under the dim light filtering through cracks in the cavern ceiling. Massive, ancient stone structures loomed over them. Clove, Iso and Omen began clearing out the area.
"Omen! You need backup. I'm pulling you out!" Sage calls out over coms after about 5 minutes of relentless fighting from enemies scattered around the map.
"No! We need more answers. What secrets are they hiding here?" Omen fires back through the comms, everyone listening intently.
"Fine, but watch over our new recruit," Sage negotiates.
"You do know I'm immortal, right?" Clove comments.
Time seemed to drag on forever for Araneae. She was bored out of her mind. Why did Brim have everyone come on this mission if he wasn't going to use everyone. Araneae slumped in her seat, trying desperately to sit still.
"All right. Who's ready for overtime?" Clove jokes through the comms as more and more enemies started showing up.
Araneae decided she had enough of sitting around doing nothing. She wanted to go kill a bunch of bitches. So she did, she jumped out of the helicopter without asking or telling anyone.
As Araneae plummeted towards the ground, the rush of wind filled her ears, adrenaline surging through her veins. She shot webs at the floor, aiming for a spot near where Clove, Iso, and Omen were.
"Araneae just jumped out of the helicopter," Harbor sighed through comms.
Back at base Gekko, who was listening to comms in Brim's office, sighed. "Of course she jumped into action. She dives headfirst and thinks later," Gekko says shaking his head, slight smile on his face, Wings nodding in agreeance.
"Rainy do not engage," Sage and Brim said at the same time.
"Nah," Araneae replied as she landed on the ground between Clove and Omen, pulling out her reaver vandal and adjusting Astra's ghost on her hip.
"You're a bad listener," Omen comments, reloading his gun.
"I'm aware," Araneae says shrugging, earning a laugh from Clove. "But I couldn't let you guys have all the fun now could I?" Araneae jokes, footsteps nearing the group, putting them all on edge again.
Omen groaned and face palmed. "Just stay sharp. We can't afford any mistakes." Omen had raised his gun and started to push in a different direction. "Let's split up. Iso take the right side, I'll take the left. You two can go through mid."
Clove and Araneae nodded and pushed mid together, watching each others blind spots. The two worked well together. Araneae was dominating, one tapping every person that peaked. Clove was also doing really well. They were also killing every person they saw almost as quick and efficiently as Araneae.
"Clove let's split up right here. Go up to the right," Araneae said as commotion was heard from both the left and right of the two.
"On it!" Clove replied aiming their gun towards the right as they pushed up.
