Bella's POV
The rest of the week went ok. I just went to work like usual and then went home. Same old same old. I'm thankful I didn't have to deliver any packages to the Fisher Tech company. It was awkward both times I was there.
Thankfully I didn't stay in Grants office for more than 2 hours as the storm passed by relatively quickly and nothing more major happened.
Its 6 PM and I just got off a double shift of work and I just arrived back at my complex. Me and Daria are having dinner at my house to catch up as we've both been busy this week. I haven't actually used the oven yet so I thought I would bake a lasagna. Nothing says fancy like frozen lasagna...
"Ok Mr. Oven...how do I operate you..."I was never good at cooking. I look at all the buttons and finally get the oven to preheat when I notice in the far upper side of the oven there is a black circle. it wasn't a button and it was barley noticeable but it was kind of flashing or glowing red. Hmm. I wonder what that's for? Oh well. I suck at cooking and I've barley touched an oven my whole life so what do I know about kitchen appliances.
"Ok 375 degrees for 30 minutes..." I said aloud read the back of the lasagna box. I heard a knock on my door. It was Daria.
"Hey!" we both greeted each other at the same time. "Come on in, I'm just about to put the lasagna in!" I put on Netflix while we wait for background noise.
"How's work going?" I ask Daria. I'm slightly wondering about how Grants doing, but I won't tell her that. "Its going ok, the deadline for the investors event is approaching and times are really tough when deadlines approach, so that's not pleasant, but I'm coping." She replies while yawning. Poor Daria.
"Something cool did happen though! A few days ago, Mitchell Trousey came to our company to check things out. I heard he was going to be at the investors event next month so I'm hoping he likes our new security camera product." Daria continues. Mitchell Trousey is the mayor. I'm not too into politics so all I know is he's running for mayor again and the election is just around the corner. Not going to lie, from what I do know about him, I'm not so much of a fan. Too cocky for my liking. But if he might invest into the company that Daria works for, then consider me a Trousey fan. For now.
I hug her, "that's great Daria, congratulations! I hope everything works out. It seems like it could pay off well for the company if he invests." He has loads of money! $$$
"Is there anything I can help you out with?" Daria says while getting up from the couch and coming to me in the kitchen.
"If you don't mind could you get the plates? I didn't have any more room in my normal cabinets for the fancy plates so I put them down below the sink." I mention as I point over to it.
Daria walks over to the sink and tries to open it but it won't budge. "Hey why won't this stupid thing open." Daria says while trying to pry it open.
I reply, "Oh its the next cabinet over, that one has always been stuck." I roll my eyes. For a new apartment building you'd think everything would work.
Daria stares at the cabinet door for a second with furrowed brows. Hers open fine so why is Bella's stuck? Whatever.
"I might call Jeff about that actually." I mention. "Not only can't I open it but I always hear noises coming from inside, especially at night. I hope there's not a rat infestation." I tell Daria. She agrees that I should have it checked out and we set up for dinner while I get the food out of the oven and toast some garlic bread.
After a successful and delicious dinner, we retire to the couch and turn on cable TV. Quite funny actually. The first channel we come across has Daria freaking out. It was Grant Fisher doing a live interview about the upcoming technology we can be expecting from Fisher Tech in the next few months.
"HUSH girl hush my boss's boss's boss is talking!" Daria screams I me. I wasn't even talking. I laugh as I watch her eyes glued to the TV. I wish I was passionate about something like she was about her work.
I turned to the TV and watched the live interview commence.
Grant went on for about 10 minutes answering questions from a journalist. He look good as always rocking a grey suit. Drool worthy.
Eww what am I saying?
They can't mention the new security camera the company is planning to releasing until after the investors event next month to keep it confidential so he talks about other, tinier projects they're working on right now.
We eventually change the channel and find ourselves on the news. I wish I didn't stumble upon it right now.
"Breaking news: another missing persons alert for the downtown New York area. Kevin that is the 4th one just this week, what is going on?" One of the newscasters as her co-worker.
"Can't say that I know Jen, the NYPD are currently working on it but the missing victims have one thing in common Jen and that is they were all last seen by nearby street camera going into their apartments but never coming out. This goes to show if your in the New York City area, if you see something, say something. Now lets hand it over to Trevor with the weather..."
Me and Daria look over at each other with wide eyes. "Good thing I lock my door at night..." Daria says and we both burst out laughing after a few moments.
Honestly that's scary but we do live in New York City so I figure missing people cases happen quite often.
"Lets go back to Grants interview now." Daria whines at me while trying to take the remote away from me. I laugh, "Girl are you sure your not obsessed with Mr. Grant Fisher himself instead of the company?" I mock and smirk towards her.
"Don't make me laugh." She says with a straight expression. "I just love what I do and am proud of it. Personally, he's not my type. I'll reserve Mr. Fishers affections for you my dear friend." She nudges me slightly on the arm.
"Now your going to make me laugh." I nudge her right back.
"I'm serious Bella, I meant what I said earlier, he never initiates a conversation with anyone if he doesn't have to for work purposes! and especially doesn't invite anyone into his office if its not absolutely necessary! I mean, the man has the whole top floor to himself so he doesn't have to see anyone!" By now Daria is pacing back and forth in front of the couch trying to prove her point.
"Mmhmmm, keep telling yourself that Daria, but even if he did have feelings for me, we don't know each other that well and I cant ever read the man so I don't know how I'd even have a real relationship with him."
"Maybe you two should just meet outside of work, like on the weekend! maybe he'd be different when he's not in work mode?" I just roll my eyes in reply.
"Daria, I don't think---"
Suddenly the power goes out. By this time its pitch dark outside therefore its completely dark in my apartment. I would've crapped my pants if Daria wasn't here.
Me and Daria scream and grab onto each other when we hear several loud pounds on my front door.
I'm frozen in fear.
