12 days until the Expo:
Bella's POV
"Another victim has been reported missing in the city. Yesterday morning a 23 year old man named John Mendoza disappeared and no one knows where he was last spotted. Here's a word from our lovely Mayor Mitchell Trousey on the matter."
Bella's attention was now fully on the TV as she ignores her now soggy cereal. Another one? She thinks worryingly.
There was an early morning press conference with the mayor explaining the recent missing persons around the city.
"I can assure you I have the best detectives looking for all the missing 21 young persons and will not rest my case until I have found them." The mayor states to the reporters. "You can rest assure with that." He finishes.
I turn off the TV in deep thought. Maybe I should be more careful around the city. I wouldn't want to become the 22nd person.
I realize Ill be late for work if I don't get my booty moving.
I grab my keys. Today I'd be driving Daria to work! I close my door and skip on down to her apartment number. I knock. and knock. and knock. I check the time impatiently. We'll be late if she doesn't come out.
I decide to text her. Once. Twice. A third time. Nothing.
I text her that I'm leaving and I'll see her for lunch.
She never came.
I sat at our same spot in the cafeteria for 30 minutes waiting for her. I hope she's ok. Now that I think about it maybe I should've gotten Jeff to open her door to see if she ok. I feel guilty for leaving her, what if she passed out and needs help?
I quickly rush out into the hallway to call Jeff to see if he can check in on her. What he said made my heart drop to the floor
"What do you mean she moved out?" I speak to Jeff loudly into the phone. "I mean, she checked out yesterday, something to do with moving back home." "What about her lease? You just broke it off then?" I ask questionably. "We worked something out." Jeff says as my blood runs cold.
Something doesn't feel right to me.
and its not that disgusting tuna salad I had for lunch.
I thank Jeff for the news and hang up. Daria was my friend. She still is actually. She wouldn't have up and left with out so much as a text to me. Would she? She isn't that kind of person and even though we haven't been friends for long, we've gotten pretty close in these last few weeks.
I decide to actually call her now...
One ring, two rings, three, voicemail.
UGH!
I know what I need to do. I must find Ryan.
1 hour later
I'm finally on a short break from my duties and its a perfect time to go and find Ryan. I get up from my seat and start walking to the elevator. Ryan's job requires him to move around the building a lot when he's not side by side with Grant and as I cant just casually walk into Grant's office, I decide to see if I can find him walking around the lobby as I've seen him there plenty of times.
After an excruciating elevator ride down to the bottom I finally get off and have a look around...
Not at the front desk...
Not by the big fountain...
Not in the waiting area...
I sigh. How the heck am I going to find him? OH I totally forgot, I actually have his number! I quickly take out my phone and text him, 'Ryan I need you right now can we meet up?!'
