Jedd
The brisk snap of the air kept me awake, it felt nice against my skin.I only wore the jacket for appearance but it was starting to get a bit warm in it.I watched the movement outside the window as Uncle Jack drove. The gentle white noise he put on kept a comfortable silence.I peaked in the mirror and smiled seeing my moms reflection. She was happy to get back to Noah and my siblings but still i felt the pain in her chest. She was leaving me here.
She was staring out the window, a far away kind of look in her eyes.I remembered the sparkle that brightened in her eyes when she looked at my dad.The love she emitted when she was in his arms. I didnt fully understand still, but the absolute strength of will to keep their mate safe.I understood that.
Sooner than i was completely comfortable with, we arrived at the airport. Noah would be there to pick her up, with Clay and Josie im sure.My wolf whined a little missing our siblings.Uncomfortable with the feeling of being away from mom.I bit my cheek as i helped her out of the car.Not that she needed the help, it was just to feel her hand in mine for a moment longer. My entire life i was glued to my moms side, now im staying what feels like a world away from her.Uncle Jack got her bag from the trunk and i let her hug him good bye.He embraced her like i would Josie and Clay."Thank you."She whispered and he let go a soft breath and squeezed her again. "Thank you."He mumbles and they pull away and she gives him a smile. "Im leaving you a giant piece of my heart this time.Take care of him."She says and he smiles chuckling lowly. "As if he was my own."He promises her and she hugs him again before pulling away and he lets her go.Im sure the slight panic is showing on my face, id never been good at hiding it from mom.She comes to me and she takes my hand.I hold it tight and look at her letting her calming aura persuade mine.
Gently, i lead her inside taking her bag for her.I walked her all the way to her gate. They were already boarding which made my throat swell. The bag she had was small enough to be a carry on so she was good. She had her boarding pass and she knew Noah would be there at the gate.I hug her tight and she laughs softly but her arms wrap around me. "Youll be amazing my sweet boy."She says and i suck in a breath. "I'm going to miss you mom."I mumble and she hums gently rubbing my back. "You're telling me. But this is where you are destined to be."she trails off quietly and slowly pulls away. Then her hand presses to my face and she smiles. "Im proud of you, my Nugget."She said and i give a small smile. For a moment she lets her aura coddle me, just like when i was a kid. Then she has to board the plane, so i let her walk toward the gate with her bag in her hand and theres a witch she knows on the plane, and she respects the Alphas of West Black Blood. I watched her walk on and then as the doors closed, and i waited to watch the plane take off. Pushing my hands deep into my pockets i walk out toward Uncle Jack who was waiting in the car. He had the engine running, so as soon as i got in he was driving off.
"Are you okay?"He asks gently, i nod and hum softly. "Yeah,"I trail off and watch as we drive past everything. I nod softly and relax into my seat. "Yes, im okay."I say softly.Everyday i spent training with Noah when i was younger paid off in the end. My mom trained with me often, but Noah always let me train to my limit. So, working with Uncle Jack now was only slightly easy and familiar.I could feel the earnest joy radiating off of him as he expelled much of his strength as we sparred. Aunt Rebekah even stepped in a few times and i could feel her content as well. Aunt Hailee and Uncle Ian took a few turns as well and it was the same for them. They all missed the training sessions they had and even though they were as strong as they could be my dad would always keep them on their toes. Or well thats what Uncle Jack told me. My wolf liked using so much power, feeling it running through my veins and goddess, running. It felt so good to run.
Even now as the sun set and the chill of night surrounded us the wind never felt so inviting as Uncle Jack and I ran back to the Pack House. A familiar intense pain hit me and my heart began to race, someone was shifting. Considering all the wolves on territory are all senior shifters i realized pretty quickly that one of the future Saviors was already shifting. It had only been a month with me on territory. I pushed myself harder and Jack followed. When we reached the pack house Aunt Rebekah was leading her son, Kyle, toward the tree line. Jack and I shifted quickly and pulled on some clothes before we ran over. "Its too soon for him to be shifting."Rebekah said and i shake my head. "I think it may be new norm, I shifted too early as well."I said and helped Rebekah take Kyle over to the waterfall. It wasnt very far but just far enough that no one would get hurt on accident. "Can you help him work through it?"Rebekah asked me as Kyle practically curled in on himself as his bones started to break. "We cant interfere Beks you know that."Jack says as She watched her son writhe in pain. Why was his coming on this easy? "What happened?"I ask turning to look at Rebekah, she sighs shaking her head. "I don't even know he had said he didn't feel well so i brought him to Hailee, she was just checking him over when he broke out into a sweat and his bones started to hurt him." Rebekah's voice is dry and strained. I hate that i can't help him much but still i take a step closer to Kyle and catch his eye. "You can do this Kyle, the more you fight it the more it'll hurt."I say, and he looks at me panting ever so gently and I see the wolf in his eyes. "Picture your wolf, let its power run through out your body." I say and once he begins I feel him start to ease into it. His bones start snapping and still he cries out in pain but instead of fighting the torque he lets it happen. I step back and let him handle himself Rebekah places her hand on my shoulder and i feel her gratitude in her aura.
I take in his hurt and my wolf hisses as we feel the fresh feeling of a first shift. It's almost the full weight of the shift that im feeling, it takes the wind out of me but i try to guide his strength. I could feel the heat coursing hotter through his body practically burning him up and the splintering of his bones as they each snap. It took hours for him to shift. Kyle passed out, but there he was in the uniform but recognizable pitch black coat of a savior wolf.Rebekah waited the entire time beside him, i stayed close but Jack went to inform the rest of Kyles shift.
When Kyle woke i could feel his confusion, it made his wolf panic and i guided Rebekah a step back before i stood taller.Squared my shoulders and let my wolf shine through calling out to Kyle and his wolf. "Kyle."I say and he gruffs but looks to me and his wolf stops a moment to take in my scent. The second he recognizes who i am he gives a whimper and bows to me.I reach out to him, placing my hand on his shoulder. "Kyle, you know who this is?"I ask gently and Rebekah steps forward, her eyes shining in pride. Kyle whines again and i feel the warmth of his love as he looks at his mom. He walks forward and then nudges his mom to make her pet him.
"You did amazing my boy."she said and then he looks up at me. 'Alpha' the mind link is instant and if i could feel him that immensely before it felt like i was in his head now. I should've practiced this more with mom. "I, Jedd Montgomery, accept you, Kyle Leigh, as Gamma of the Saviors Pack."i say and his wolf immediately looks bigger, stronger, more confident.Im amazed by it.Did i look similar when i accepted the Alpha role?
"Take your first run Kyle."I say gently and he gives me a wolfy smile before he takes off running.I smile watching him and am glad when the distance doesn't affect the link i have to him.Aunt Rebekah watches her son take off and she looks at me her eyes bright and shiny, holding tears. She comes close and her hands rest on my shoulders. "You are a natural, Jedd."She says and then her hands pull me close.I smile as my aunt embraces me and let my arms wrap around her. "Just like your dad."She says softly and i feel the same warmth of love again and take a shaky breath in.Rebekah was the first of the new Saviors my dad found.Beside Aunt Mia and my grandparents, she was the one who knew and loved my dad the longest. "Thank you."I whisper and squeeze once more before we pulled away.I could still feel Kyle and i enjoyed the feeling of joy as it filled him.I let Aunt Rebekah feel and she laughs softly. "Im glad hes having fun."She says gently before Kate, her mate, runs out of the pack house and over to us.Rebekah looks at her with love and smiles. "Hes perfect."She says and Kate places her hands on her chest and lets go a breath. "Of course he was."She chokes up and Rebekah laughs softly taking her mate into her arms.I smile and give them privacy walking toward the pack house.
Aunt Hailee and Uncle Ian were waiting with Uncle Jack while Uncle Chance and Aunts Jamie and Billie distracted the other kids. "Gamma of the Saviors has been accepted into the pack."I say and they all smile. "Yes i win."ian says looking to Hailee and i look at him. "What?"I ask confused. "Rebekah was also technically second to join the reborn saviors pack."Ian says and Hailee sighs but hands over a $10 bill. "We were betting on who would shift first. I said it would follow rank, and Ian said it would follow in order of who joined the pack." Hailee said and Ian chuckled. "Obviously it looks like i may be right." Ian said and pocketed the money before Hailee rolled her eyes and turned away. "Looks like you are still a idiot."She said as she walked away into the house. Uncle Jack laughs as Ian rolls his eyes and follows after her. "You're mad i won."He said and they went off. Uncle Jack chuckled a little before leaning agaisnt the door frame and i saw his eyes settle on his daughter. "If what they think is whats happening, that means Kaylen is shifting next."I mumble just loud enough for the Uncle Jack and the Former Saviors to hear. Jack hums gently and he sighs as he watches her. "Soon, too soon if the saviors are shifting earlier than normal wolves." He mumbles as well and i sigh softly and my wolf feels the pull from the left side of the room. I smile seeing Amara playing with Chelsey, Taylor, and Rose. She was smiling at whatever Taylor was saying and it made the room light. "I can learn to guide them better. The shift pain doesnt have to be so bad if i can learn how." I mumble and Jack sighs as his eyes travel over to Billie. "We're not supposed to intervene," He sighs and i can see as Billie peaks over to him. "but i saw what you did with Kyle.Whatever it was, it cut the shift time exponentially."He says softly and then looks to me. "Its like training."He said and i nod slowly. Jack hums and his gaze travels back to Kaylen. "If you're willing to keep going, then its ok."He says and i look over the others. Id learn how to do it perfectly for my pack..
