Warning- Violence and Blood

Getting thrown in the cell was hard. A different feeling than being in my flat. The ground was hard, and there was no bed anywhere to be seen. It was dark and I could hear the occasional scream coming from the distance. I sat in a corner of the room, and watched the door. A few hours later, I was drifting off, when I heard the door to my cell creak open. My eyes shot towards where the noise was coming from, watching as a boy my age walked through it. I backed up further into the wall, hissing and getting ready to turn into an animal, when the boy just sat down by the door. I examined his figure, he was slightly muscular, and wore a blue shirt under a black jacket plus black pants on his legs. The boys eyes were pitch black with white iris's, which stood out against his pale green skin. His ears were like an elf's, long and pointed. His hair was messy and a dark green, while his gas mask on the lower part of his face was a deep black. He wore black fingerless gloves and a small golden crown on his head.

"I won't hurt you" he reassured, putting his hands up in defense, "I just wanna talk."

I glared at him but slowly approached. Sitting in front of him, crossing my legs.

"Who are you?" I questioned, waving my hand towards him

"My names Sam, son to Poseidon, nephew of Zeus, and Warden to the jail!" He cheerfully said, putting his hand out for me to shake it. I shook his hand, still uncomfortable.

"Apparently we're cousins then" I mumbled. How could this adorable green boy be related to me.

"I guess so, although you're more powerful than me" he said, looking towards the ground.

"How so?" I asked, wrapping my arms around myself before forcing my powers to allow me to adapt to the cold.

"Can't tell you that, Uncle will strip me of my title," he chuckled, but I could tell he was hiding his anger.

"What do you know of the trials?" I tilted my head and stared at Sam.

"It's literally all Uncle told you it was, just fighting. I could get you a punching bag for you to practice on, but otherwise I'll train you in secret"

We shook hands again, before Sam pulled me into a hug. He then walked out, retrieving the punching bag he promised.

Three weeks passed in the blink of an eye, but I knew how to use my powers in the heat of the battle, and with the help of Sam, I got even better at fighting. I could knock him down now, and he was taller and stronger than me physically.

This morning, after a "great" night of sleep, Kratus came into my cell and dragged me into an area where I was to wait for the fights to start. I knew I wasn't allowed to be killed, or kill the animals I was fighting, but animals could be unpredictable. I missed my dog, and my parents, and Patrick. I just wanted my old life. Changing into a new fighting outfit, which felt a lot more flexible than my old outfit, I tied my hair up and got ready to walk into the arena. I felt something aggressively sharp stab me in the back, and I whipped around to see Sam prodding me in the back with a trident, mouthing: "I'm sorry". I hissed and turned back around, walking into the arena. The sand floor shined against the black arena stands that were filled with gods and demigods. Zeus and his wives sat in a higher area than everyone else. As I walked out onto the arena, looking at him, Zeus stood up and put his hand up. Everyone went silent.

"I'm glad you all could make it to watch my newly betrothed fight in the arena," he announced, his voice booming, "Siren down there, did not want to marry me, and decided fighting would be a better choice." Everyone cheered, clapping, "So I made a game out of it! Have fun watching everyone!" Zeus clapped, sitting down. Everyone cheered and started stomping their feet.

I scowled at all of them and glued my eyes to the large metal gate that started to open on the other side of the arena. There were two identical ones on either side of it, but they stayed closed. I watched as a big guy, who looked as though he was two times my size and angry, walked out of the opening gate. His eyes set on me, and I could almost see his eyes settling on the color of red. A demon or a demigod? I looked up at Zeus and put one of my legs back, bowing with my sword pointing out on my left side. I heard the fighter scream and I could hear his footsteps rumbling the weak sand floor. Just as he was about to hit me, I dodged to the side and allowed my sword to slice his arm. I heard him cry out in pain and I winced. I hadn't ever hurt anyone physically like that. He charged at me again, and I jumped, kicking him in the stomach repeatedly. I watched him stagger for a moment before regaining his steadiness and charging at me, punching me in my kidney. I coughed and staggered back, spitting out a little bit of blood. Collecting myself, I ran towards him, kicking him harder, and faster. He kept moving back, until starting to push me forward, as if realizing he was bigger than me. I fell towards the floor, and the man raised his fist, as if to knock me out. I cannot be stuck marrying my uncle. I felt blood splatter all over me, and I look down in horror to see that I had impaled him on my sword. Blood covered my hands, and the man fell off me. I screamed and everyone cheered, but Zeus stood up with an annoyed look.

"Reminder, little bird, don't kill my animals" he hissed at me.

I touched the man's lifeless eyes, and a roar came out behind me. My hands are stained with blood. The lion lunged for me, scratching from my right shoulder to my left elbow. I cried out and stumbled back, dropping my sword. The lion came towards me again, slashing my thigh. My vision blurred in and out. The lion lunged for me yet again and I grabbed its face, changing its emotions and thoughts. You want to go back to the cell. You're too tired for this. The lion stayed down, staring at me with confused eyes. It trotted back to its original home, behind the metal gate. The tiger came out now. I'm tired. My hands are stained with blood. It leapt for me, but I transformed into a tiger, letting out an ear splitting roar. It bowed down. The tiger then trotted back to its original home, just like the lion. I transformed back into myself. The crowd cheered and stomped their feet, as if a man hadn't just died by my hands. I collapsed to the floor. A god can't die of blood loss right? My vision started blurring even more. I saw a green silhouette run towards me, grabbing my shoulders. I winced, trying to listen to their muffled voice.

"Sam?" I whispered, before passing out.
