NEXT MORNING
Y/N'S POV
A groan left my mouth as I rubbed the bruised ankle. Muttering some curses under my breath, I stood up almost stumbling back due to the immense pain which surged from my foot to my body.
Tears brimmed in the corner of my eyes blurring the edges of the hallway. I couldn't walk with this injury's constant pain.
Jungkook told me that he would show me around more, but now he is nowhere to be found. He disappeared, without a trace.
If I started searching myself then it would cost me my whole life to find him in this massive Palace. It was too vast for someone like me.
Fortunately, I bumped into the maid and asked for help from her. She was a generous woman who took me to the infirmary. I had my ankle healed with the paste of herbs and a bandage covered around it.
The maid's appearance showed how old she was and her face was tired. Despite the tiredness, she kept a smile tugging on her face.
Her face resembled my mother's. The similarities drew my attention to her.
I remembered the sayings of my mother and the small heart-warming moments which I shared with her. The touch of her hands, was still fresh in my memory, despite being the old craving which could no longer be felt.
I thanked the maid and the female doctor then left from there. It hurt a bit but I felt a lot better than before.
This small pain can't take over the pain of years that I've faced.
My mother left me with marks which would always remind me of what I've lost. She was a kind soul but died when she was too young to meet death.
I wish I had more time to spend with her...
"Hey!"
"AHHHHHHHHHH!"
I had a heart attack when suddenly a person out of nowhere, popped up. I squeezed my eyes so tight that they started to hurt.
I don't know how I didn't trip once again but I managed to have myself spared another embarrassing moment.
I kept a hand on my chest where my heart raced as if it ran miles. Taking some long and deep breaths, I proceeded to calm myself. Glancing up, I found a man smiling at me.
He was dressed in a white long robe with golden lining on it and the Purple spade suit logo of the kingdom on the side of his chest. His hair was black as coal.
I never saw him here before. A tick mark appeared on my forehead and I opened my mouth to ask him. "Who are you?"
He bowed in front of me. Taken aback by his sudden move, I stepped back. He looked in his early 20s.
"Your Highness, I'm Choi Yeonjun, assigned as your courtier by the Lord." He replied keeping a small smile on his lips. I blinked rapidly.
They didn't need to hire him, I'm not a baby.
Are they being too much or is it something I should appreciate?
"N-nice to meet you." Accepting my fate, I forwarded my right hand. His gaze shifted between my hand and my face. "I'm forbidden to touch the Royalty." I felt blood rushing to my cheeks from the embarrassment as I lowered my hand to the side.
I don't belong to any Royal family, he still respects me so much. I nodded keeping in check not to make this mistake again. They might not even know about this handshake.
