AUTHOR'S POV
To their relief, the shaking ground slowly got normal and stopped. Y/n felt the cold sweat which formed on her forehead tickle, as her body was still recovering from what had happened. A rock of a large size, which was covering a wall, was now at the side and a small path opened up.
"Why are we doing this again, Y/n?"
"I don't know."
"..." His eyebrows furrowed and he stared at her. "That's exactly what I felt." She threw a reverse card at him, grinning ear to ear.
"We are doing this so that we can get married." He mumbled reminding himself, his head lightly tilting to the sides, though she heard him.
When Y/n thought about it, she didn't know why she was doing this. It struck her, hard. She stopped, and her muscles stopped working, too. This wasn't going to lead her somewhere, was it?
Her life back on earth wasn't a good one and after being put here, she had started to see changes in herself.
This gave her happiness, far better than the loneliness she felt on earth. She used to be quiet there, but now she felt more lively. She didn't know what her relationship with Jungkook was and would become, but she felt content.
Maybe this was what she deserved after all. Maybe, just maybe, it was meant to happen and become a reason for her living. Marrying Jungkook would also not harm anyone.
And then she guessed that this was what her heart wanted. Maybe. Just maybe.
A smile painted her face. Clearing her throat she asked, "So, what now?"
"I-"
"Please, don't say that you don't know!" The sentence started to tick her off and a small chuckle escaped his lips. "Calm down. We should probably go inside that tunnel."
He pointed at the small entrance in a corner which he accidentally found. "Are you sure there isn't something that can harm us inside?"
"I don't know." He shrugged.
"Say this one more time and I'll break your bones." He blinked at her warning. He had no intention to annoy or irritate her, but the phrase was the only thing he could say as it was the truth. "O-Okay."
She rubbed her temples after getting a headache from this. Truly this was annoying just like someone poking your cheeks without your permission. She wouldn't take that; instead, she would grab your hair.
They both went inside making their way into the still darkness. Their steps were like the leaves rustling. Y/n, ahead of Jungkook, took every step with her eyes opened wide.
The small tunnel that smelled of minerals and earth turned into a cave and they slowly took steps. A slight brimming noise came from the roof of the cave. It was water, a river or maybe a brook, flowing right above them.
As they went deeper, the cave became more open for them to walk without bending anymore giving their back some rest.
Y/n's hand unconsciously came in contact with the rocky wall to only take her hand back and rub the green liquid texture which painted her fingers.
Her nose scrunched as she realized that there were wet vines and maybe on the ground too. She needs to be careful before she slips and causes more trouble.
Her head glanced every way. A tiny light illuminating from a distance caught her eye. It was very unnoticeable but there. It was present and she knew it. A dim light.
Grabbing onto Jungkook's wrist from behind, she stopped walking and turned rapidly forgetting she was standing at a slippery place.
She bumped into Jungkook who caught her from her arms, not having any intention of wrapping his arms around her in the process. She was lost for words.
Y/n looked up to see her face just a few inches away from his. His breath fanned her face as she felt blood rushing to her cheeks.
Her heart thumped loudly in her chest, almost doubting her if it would come out. Never would her heart have beat so fast.
Just then, something slid on her foot, it was tingly. A soft thing touched her feet. Her eyes widened.
"AH! COCKROACH!"
"WHAT?! COCKROACH?!"
Y/n jumped to a side. They looked down in terror to see a squirrel tilting its head at them.
It had a nut and was biting on it. Y/n closed her eyes and sighed in relief as the life was back into her body. Her pale white face went normal.
"You almost killed me!"
"What did I do?!"
"You gave me a heart attack!"
Jungkook bent down in a sitting position and kept a hand on his chest where his heart thumped. He tried calming his nerves and heart. He could feel himself shivering.
"You're scared of a cockroach?", mumbled Y/n looking at him down.
"Just the only thing I'm scared of.", replied Jungkook with a sour face, not willing to accept the fact. He wanted to get over it and thought that maybe he was already over it. Guess what? He still has the fear.
Y/n looked back at the place where she saw the light coming from. She nudged at his shoulder and pointed there.
"Should we see what's there?"
Jungkook looked at where she was referring to and stood up, grabbing her wrist with gentleness, he slowly walked up to the area.
A little closer look and Y/n's jaw dropped to the ground, being the second time it did today.
A larger cave which was very large. At the side of the walls, hung paintings of kings and queens on the dark granite walls. It was dimly lit by a lamp, a burning lamp inside a cave.
All were different, many. Every picture had a name carved under it. All looked very different yet similar to each other. One thing similar was their surname. Jeon.
The kings and queens wore a crown which was the same as the one which Jungkook's father wore on his head. Getting a closer view of the paintings, she noticed the yellowness of them, reflecting how old they must have been.
"That's my grandfather.", said Jungkook who had walked over a distance and stood in front of a painting. He remembered the furious yet calm nature of his grandfather. The figure was filled with confidence and power.
He could not forget his inspirational figure, the figure who always showed him the way, the figure who always told him about the tales. Not the fairy tales, the tales of the men of their family who were brave warriors.
The tales of the Magical Forest, he remembered it, remembered it all very clearly. The picture of his grandfather teaching him about the sword painted his eyes with sadness.
The damp atmosphere and the smell of fresh water hit his nose as he breathed his emotions.
His grandfather did tell him that a sword is the heart of a warrior. Such a beautiful soul he was, who taught him about the things which his father could not.
Y/n approached him with light steps, her footsteps matching the sound of dripping water from the ceiling and she gazed at the female figure's painting at the side.
"Jeon Myla."
Her name sent chills down her spine. The face showed no emotion and she held the fur of her coat. It looked like the fur of a bear. Short hair and grey eyes.
Her figure screamed power and dominance. 'Maybe that was the reason why grandfather loved grandmother,' thought Jungkook as he looked over the painting.
