Sade stepped out of her car, closing and locking the door before she began walking toward the OB-GYN office. Reaching the entrance, she pulled the door open and walked inside. She made her way to the front desk, where the receptionist looked up from the computer, "Good morning. Do you have an appointment?"
"Good morning." Sade greeted. "I'm here for Tracey Laurent's. I'm her daughter-in-law. She told me she told you guys I would be coming."
The receptionist nodded. "Sade Alexander. Do you know what room she's in?"
"Yeah." Sade responded, and the receptionist tapped the buzzer. "Thanks." she then turned and walked towards the door. Opening it, she stepped into the hallway and began making her way down the hallway. Finding Tracey's room, she opened the door and said, "Hey y'all." As she saw her boyfriend's mom, Tracey, lying on the examination bed, and his dad, Vance, on his phone on the bench.
"Hey baby." Tracy replied, giving her a hug.
"You knew to greet me." Vance stated, and Sade rolled her eyes while Tracy chuckled. "Wassup."
Tracy yawned, "I'm so tired. This doctor needs to hurry up so I could leave and get something to eat." She laid her head on the headrest.
"The baby kept you up all night?" Sade asked, sitting next to Vance. She looked over at Tracy, who shook her head before sitting up straight.
"Zyaire did," Tracy began, "He was in my dream last night and Sade, it felt so real. I was pregnant with a girl, and we were preparing for the days leading up to birth. Zyaire was there helping me pack up the hospital bag and he was just talking about how he's gonna spoil the fuck out of her and she ain't gon ever want for nothing.. He was just so happy." She let out a sigh. "You know he always wanted a sister then the day came, and right when I was about to give him her, I woke up and I just started bawling. I haven't been able to sleep since, now the sleep wanna catch up to me."
Zyaire is Sade's late boyfriend. The love of her life and her first experience of what it meant to have a partner who genuinely cared about her and provided her with nothing but unconditional love. They started dating when they were 16 and from the very beginning, their relationship was nothing but pure happiness. Unfortunately, their love story was cut short when Zyaire was killed in a drive by shooting.
Of course after Zyaire died Sade was heartbroken. She swore to herself that she would never move on from him. She felt that no one could ever compare to the love she had for him, and she couldn't imagine ever finding someone who could make her feel the way he did and for a couple of years, she held to that promise.
But as time passed, Sade realized that she couldn't remain stuck in that headspace forever. She knew Zyaire would want her to be happy even if that meant being with someone that's not him so she started dating again, but no matter who came into her life, Zyaire would always hold a special place in her heart as her boyfriend.
