Greetings Readers,
It’s been a while since my last check-in. Fear not, for I am very much still alive and kicking. A lot has happened since my last “published” story. A lot in the sense that I’ve had some ideas that I want to follow through with and flesh out as much as possible.
During my “hiatus from writing” I’ve changed a bit. I graduated from college, debt free, got in touch with my mother and rekindled our nonexistent relationship, and started going to the gym. Two years and counting, no plans on stopping soon, don’t worry, I didn’t turn into a “gym bro” and become a “meathead”. I’m still very much a nerd that enjoys the culture and camaraderie it brings. During this hiatus I watched Avatar: The Last Airbender, CARTOON, not the HORRENDOUS movie that was directed by M. Night Shatupon. I absolutely fell in love with the characters, world, and themes. When the show aired from 2005-2008, I wasn’t watching it, it didn’t interest me. In my childhood I was a Cartoon Network kid through and through, KND ALL THE WAY BABY, anyway, in a month I binged all three seasons and read the six comics.
I gotta be honest, Azula is one of my favorite characters from the show. Is it because she’s voiced by Grey Griffin, who is the voice of mine and a lot of people my age’s childhood? Maybe, is it because Azula is straight up crazy and crazy women are my weakness? Possibly, in all seriousness I think Azula is incredibly misunderstood and didn’t get the redemption she deserved. The comics didn’t help this opinion, specifically the Search, with that said. The following is a LOOSE interpretation of Avatar: The Last Airbender-The Search by Gene Luen Yang, Michael Dante DiMartino, and Bryan Konietzko. Certain dialogue, scenes and descriptions might be pulled from the original source material. All credit goes to the original authors. I hope you enjoy this rewrite/crossover and the stories that will, 60% certain, follow.
-Billy
