The Current Galaxy:

Twenty standard years have passed since the end of the Third Galactic Civil War and the defeat of Darth Kurgan and his New Empire on the planet of Naboo. The galaxy has experienced an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity. Following the war, the New Rebellion reorganized into the Colonial Alliance. With this reformation, the Colonial Alliance became the true vision of freedom and democracy the heroes of old fought and strived to achieve.

Many planets and races that were allies during the war joined the Colonial Alliance. Among these groups were Mon Cala, Cybertron, Kuat, and the list could go on. Not all the New Rebellion allies joined the Colonial Alliance at its conception. Some groups, such as the Jedi Order, Yautja species, and the Mandalorians elected to return to neutral. But, they made it a point to let the Colonial Alliance know, should they ever call for assistance; it won't go unanswered. It's not uncommon to see members of these groups serving within the Colonial Alliance military in some capacity.

Military:

At the end of the war, it was decided the New Rebellion's military needed an overhaul. The brilliant military minds from the conflict came together and created a more streamlined and organized doctorate that has since been the standard. At the height of the conflict there was no specific class of ship that had a role. That was quickly changed following the war's end and a new class of starship was created and has been in service since.

For support ships, such as frigates and gunboats, past ship designs were unearthed and reevaluated/improved for current generation use. This same method was applied to starfighters, weapons, equipment, and uniforms used by the Colonial Alliance personnel.
