"doesn't make me cry"

GETTING HOME AFTER seeing him again felt like a bad high, her mind racing her emotions all over the place her hands shaking with everything she was feeling as she locked her door behind herself and Comet.

Crawling into bed the second she could, hiding under the covers like a little kid during storms, both trying to shut out the world and her mind.

It didn't work of course, and that's how she found herself crying over him again.

Her heart couldn't process this as her brain wants to. She can't shut his voice out of her ears, can't stop the memories that rip into her like teeth now. She desperately clung to anger, how could he intend to keep his bullshit promise, after leaving her. That he put her so far up for months only to send her crashing back down to earth and left her there.

The ache was gnawing through her as sobs racked through her, body shuddering with the force of them, ignoring her phone when it rang, and at comets whines because he knew she hurting.

She hates him.

That's what she repeats loudly in her head, begging that if she said it enough it would be true.

KAI IS THE one that finds her first, hours later, since they came to her apartment under orders of Aki who had called her to see if she wanted that extra shift she asked for but didn't pick up. Using the pick lock they have when she doesn't answer and only comets scratching at the door and whines could be heard.

The second they enter Comets darts right back into the bedroom, whining there instead.

Kai's follows after quickly, worry flooding their veins entering her room to find her in a state they'd never personally seen.

She was sitting against her headboard, eyes and nose red from crying, her eyes sunken more then usual, staring blankly at the wall one hand picking at the star bracelet on her wrist.

"Vale..." Kai whispers, eyes widened and brows narrowed with confusion as they move closer when she doesn't even acknowledge their presence like she hadn't even heard them.

She blinks out of where ever she was in her mind, her really shitty mind, that Kai knows somewhat about.

Her words come out rasped liked she'd screamed it broken, eyes looking at them distantly still, "It doesn't work with him"

Kai blinks confused as they sit next to her on the bed, watching her worriedly, responding softly with, "What are you—"

"I saw him"

Kai face drops and with a sigh running a hand through the mess of curls on their head looking down. Everyone had known he was back, Mickey had told Kai and Alessia and Fiona told Vincent, and they all had hoped it would be a little bit long before she found out too.

"It doesn't work when you love the one who hurts you"

"Why?" they hear the tears his her voice, the shakiness makes them wince before looking back to her.

"Cause you can't hate the one who also made it good"

Her face scrunches like she didn't want to her that and tears fall again until she whips them roughly with her hand, her eyes move back to looking to the wall.
