Lin's POV:

As I was sitting in my office filling out a paper work and listening to some music, the radios started shudering a bit and then voice came through, "My fellow nonbenders, here's Amon your savior. The Republic City Council, along with Chief Beifong, have made me the archenemy of Republic City. Now I hope you enjoyed your pro bending match as it was your last. I urge you to close the bending arena or there will be severe consequences."

What in the flame-o? Who does he think he is, really?! The pro bending matches are now the only thing what's holding benders and nonbenders in peace and in a light happy mood.

I bet Tenzin's already holding a meeting with the council. I quickly got out of my office and ran to my cruisor. Can't say I didn't broke some of the rules but this is urgent.

As I was nearing the entrance of the Town hall I heard Korra yelling about benders and nonbender being in harmony when watching pro bending match together. I bardged through those door ready to argue but Tenzin beat me to it. "What is it with people Always bardging into a PRIVATE meetings?!"

Quick glare landed on Tenzin, "It's hard to say but I agree with Korra. You do? Yeah, you do?" Korra asked surprised as well Tenzin was but honestly I'm too. "Yes. Those matches is what is currently holdings us together as a civil society. Leave the arena open and me and my men will guard the arena during the finals. Lin, the decision has been already made you can't just..."

"Wait wait Council man Tenzin. Here Chief Beifong is very capable and skilled police officer as well as her men are. If she offers to keep every civilian safe during the finals and take full responsibility for her actions I don't see a problem here. Do you Chief? No, I can assure you me and my men will do everything in our will to keep every single person safe and sound. Well then it's decided. The arena stays Open!"

Then I remembered, I need to bring Commander Akuza with us. Spirits, still can't believe I asked her for help.

"I presume Commander Akuza will join your force?" Asked Tarrlok. "As expected." Tenzin was petting his beard clearly deep in his mind. "Till I forget, we'll do a sweep around AND in the arena to be one hundred percent sure." Said Tenzin. "As you wish."

I'm glad that my mind is occupied most of the time. I don't like to think about my personal life because everytime I do I feel like I failed. Failed my mother, failed Tenzin, failed myself.

When I was a teenager the only thing I did was train and work on my physique to police academy. After I finally became a police officer I was trying to please my mother. Everything I did was for her to see that her daughter is capable, strong and independant woman like she was. That she have someone to be proud about than herself.

In my early twenties I started dating Tenzin and honestly It was good. The feeling to recieve love from someone else than your family, knowing that your partner cares about you. But then he wanted family. He knew that I wasn't the motherly type.

Tch family, he wanted to restore the whole air nation. I was angry of course and maybe I still am. When I think what could've been. What life we could have. The point is as a kid and teenager I was supposed to be outside making friends, spend time with my younger sister and just enjoy those years.

Now people think that I am old, bitter woman who does not have heart. They're just too soft for this world.

~~~
"How's the sweep going?" Asked Tenzin from behind me. "We didn't detect any threats. Are you sure? Did you checked under the seats and in the balconies? Tenzin, I have fleets here, in the air and in the water from all directions. Everythings covered."
