Rimuru POV:

Today is the day I'll learn more about Meliodas and his true feelings. Despite being a demon prince, he doesn't seem to fit the typical mold. He doesn't appear to enjoy the fear and respect that comes with his role, but that might just be my optimism. To better understand him, I thought a relaxed conversation over ale would be a good start. After all, ale has a way of loosening people up. "Maybe a change of outfit will set a different tone," I said to myself, snapping my fingers to alter my appearance.

I glanced at my new outfit, which still had a casual air about it, and chuckled. "Well, it's not a huge departure from what I usually wear, but it's comfortable enough."

{Rimuru should be more honest with herself}

"Did you say something, Ciel?"

{It's just your imagination.}

"Right, off to the meeting spot."

With my outfit sorted, I transformed into my demon form and activated Return to teleport. Unfortunately, I misjudged the distance and ended up falling right next to Meliodas. We both tumbled onto the ground.

"This is a bit awkward," I said with a laugh, as Meliodas joined in.

"You certainly know how to make an entrance," he quipped, helping me up.

I surveyed the area and noticed a faint trace of spying magic. "By the way, did you know someone's watching us?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"I anticipated it. Yesterday was unusual for many," Meliodas replied, clearly impressed.

"Well, they'll have to find a new hobby. I don't intend to be on display," I said, grabbing his arm. "Return." We reappeared at my house, and I let go as he looked around.

"Welcome to my humble abode. Feel free to make yourself comfortable. No one can perceive us here, so we can talk freely. Would you like a drink? I have some excellent ale," I offered, fetching two mugs.

"Sure," he said, settling into a chair. I handed him a mug and took a seat beside him. We enjoyed the ale, savoring the rich flavors.

"You weren't kidding. This ale is fantastic," Meliodas remarked, genuinely pleased.

"I got it as a thank-you gift after saving someone. I was going to buy it anyway, so it was a nice coincidence. The humans in the village know me as 'The Storm Warrior,' a nickname that stuck. It's funny how a good deed can get you free stuff," I said with a smile.

"How do you manage to stay hidden if you're so well-known among humans?" Meliodas asked with interest.

"Fairies and I have an understanding. Humans are more afraid of angering me than curious about my past. Goddesses usually don't stick around to chat, and demons are usually occupied with their own affairs. Giants are a mystery to me. I've managed to avoid detection through my powers and discretion. You're the first to catch me out in the open," I explained.

I dragged a barrel closer and refilled our mugs. "It's amusing. My genuine interactions seem to be with royalty—like the Fairy King, his sister, and now you. It's a relief to drop the façade and be myself," I said, feeling more at ease.

"You're impressive. Brave, smart, powerful, and empathetic. I genuinely like you," Meliodas said, his tone softening.

I felt a blush rise to my cheeks. "You're making me blush. I wasn't expecting such compliments."

Meliodas's gaze turned more intense. "You know, you're the only person who makes me feel this way. It's your fault for being so captivating."

I instinctively took a step back until I hit the wall. He followed, placing his arm against the wall to block my escape. I let go of my mug, unsure how to respond. He lifted my chin to meet his gaze.

"You're the only one who makes me feel like this. Don't blame me for what happens next," he said, leaning in to kiss me.

His kiss was passionate, and I found myself responding, wrapping my arms around him and pulling him closer. When he pulled away, his touch on my ear sent shivers down my spine. "Your reactions are adorable," he whispered, kissing my neck.

Overwhelmed by the sensation, I leaned into him, losing my strength. He gently laid me on the bed and joined me, his smile soft and loving.

"I really do love you," he said tenderly.

I finally found my voice. "You know, it's hard to understand your usual demeanor when you're like this."

"Whose fault do you think that is?" he teased, and we both laughed.

"To think a week ago, I had no real friends or close relationships. It's strange to look at myself now," I said softly.

"It's similar for me. I had no true connections before, just respect and duty. My brother and I don't get along, and I have issues with my father. This... this is new for me," he admitted.

I smiled at him, feeling a deep sense of connection. "Well, you have me now. My feelings for you won't change. No matter what happens, you'll always have a special place in my heart."

His expression softened, and he looked at me with a mixture of relief and affection.

We spent the rest of the evening talking about small things, enjoying each other's company. I finally shared something I'd kept to myself. "Meliodas, do you know why I struggled with friendships before?"

He looked serious, waiting for my answer.

"My ability to see the true nature of things has always made it difficult to form genuine connections. I can perceive the essence of people and situations, which makes it hard to fully engage without feeling like I'm wearing a mask. I've always been on guard, unable to truly be myself. But with you, I can finally relax and just be. I don't have to pretend," I explained, my voice trembling slightly.

Meliodas considered my words carefully. "That must have been challenging. But you've used your abilities to help others, and that's something to be proud of. Don't feel guilty for protecting yourself. It's a strength, not a flaw."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I let my emotions flow freely. I buried my face in his chest, feeling comforted as he gently stroked my hair. It felt like a weight had been lifted, and for the first time in a long while, I felt truly at peace.
