It was the beginning of time; it was the end of time. For time is a construct of Earth; invented by man to try to make order and certainty from chaos.

He blames others when he can't succeed. He blames the system for his shortcomings. He blames God if the failure is monumental. He cannot abide the thought that he is but an insignificant speck in the fabric of time.

A speck of dust perched on a grain of sand. A grain of sand being blown around on an ever - expanding beach.

The horror is that that beach is but a speck on the Earth. The Earth but a speck in a galaxy dwarfed by its universe. The universe but a speck in the fabric of what he calls God.

So which part of infinity is really to blame for a man's failures and monumental weaknesses, and what does it profit a man if he attains the whole world but suffers the loss of his spirit.

A Tale Of Two Universes.

And so it was with Peter Margate and his neighbour Carter Cheval Ryder.
