LORENZO RUCCI POV
I adjusted my tuxedo, my eyes never leaving Marco's face. "Let's take this to my office."
Marco followed me, I could feel his eyes fixed on my back, as we left the conference room and entered my office.
My office was a sleek, modern room with a stunning view of the city skyline.
As soon as the door closed, I turned to Marco, my voice low and even. "So, Marco, why did you come back after all these years?"
Marco hesitated, his eyes darting around the room before settling on my face. "I...I didn't want to, Renzo. But I had to."
I raised an eyebrow. "Had to? What do you mean?"
Marco took a deep breath, his shoulders squaring. "I'm getting married, Renzo. And my fiancée...she's pregnant."
My expression didn't change, but my eyes flashed with surprise. "Married? Pregnant? You're telling me you came back for a family reunion?"
Marco nodded, his face set in a determined expression. "I know it's a lot to take in, Renzo. But I wanted to make things right between us before I start my own family."
My gaze narrowed, and my mind was racing with the implications. "And what makes you think I'll just welcome you back with open arms, Marco?"
Marco's eyes locked onto mine, his voice firm. "Because, despite everything, you're my brother, Renzo. And I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make things right between us."
My eyes blazed with anger, my voice low and menacing. "You're telling me you're willing to make things right, Marco? After what you did to me? To our family?"
Marco's face set in a determined expression, his eyes locked onto mine. "I know I made mistakes, Renzo. But I was young and stupid. I didn't know what I was doing."
My laughter was cold and harsh. "Young and stupid? You were old enough to know better, Marco. You were old enough to take over the family business, to lead our people. But instead, you abandoned us. You left me to pick up the pieces and fight for survival."
Marco's face paled, his eyes dropping in shame. "I know, Renzo. And I'm sorry. But I was scared. I didn't know if I was ready to take on the responsibility."
My gaze narrowed, my voice deadly. "You were ready to take on the responsibility of betraying our family, of leaving me to face our enemies alone. But you weren't ready to take on the responsibility of leading our people? That's rich, Marco."
Marco's eyes flashed with anger, his face reddening. "I said I was sorry, Renzo. What more do you want?"
My smile was cold and cruel. "I want to know why you really came back, Marco. I want to know what you're after."
Marco's eyes locked onto mine, his voice filled with conviction. "I swear, Renzo, I'm not here to cause any harm. I've changed. I want to make amends and start fresh."
My gaze narrowed, my eyes searching Marco's face for any sign of deception. After a long moment, I nodded curtly. "Alright, Marco. I accept that you're back. But let me make one thing clear: I'm still watching you. If you so much as blink in a way I don't like, you're out. Got it?"
Marco nodded, a look of relief washing over his face. "Got it, Renzo. Thank you for giving me a chance."
I narrowed my eyes with a firm voice. "So, Marco, where will you be staying while you're in town?"
Marco hesitated, his eyes darting around the room before settling on My face. "I...I was thinking of staying at the old family villa on the outskirts of town."
