y/n was working the day of the sports festival.

because of course, she was.

and to make matters worse, when y/n was finally making her way home, her mom called her asking if she could pick up more snacks for their guests.

meaning she had to go back to work. thankfully, she hadn't made it too far.

by the time she made it home, it was already on the final event: the fighting tournament.

"who's up right now?" y/n asked as she entered the front door.

"y/n, we have guests be nice," her mother shook her head.

"oh sorry," y/n apologized as she took her shoes off. "it's lovely to see you again, mr and mrs bakugo, I'm sure your son's been killing it!"

"hello, y/n," masaru greeted with a wave.

"hell yeah, he is!" mitsuki smiled with pride. "right now it's this pink girl against some blondie."

y/n nodded and went to the kitchen to refill the empty snack bowls with the chips she had brought. once she was done, she threw out her trash, grabbed a soda from the fridge, and took the bowl to the living room, placing it on the coffee table.

'hey,' y/n choked on her soda. her mother looked at her with a small frown and patted her back softly. 'i go up soon.'

'no way,' y/n felt her heart flutter. 'i just got home, i haven't been able to watch till now."

'at least you'll be able to see me up close!'

'yeah,' y/n smiled to herself. 'i will.'

as the fights went on, y/n couldn't help but feel nervous. while it was true she wasn't meeting him or anything, she would finally be able to see him.

eventually, an announcement about the fight between eijiro kirishima and tetsutetsu tetsutetsu came up. first, the camera panned to a silver-haired boy entering the 'ring' with the cpations showing that he was the one named tetsutetsu tetsutetsu. afterward, the camera panned over to eijiro kirishima, a redhead with spiky hair who flashed the camera with a sharp smile and two thumbs up.

y/n's eyes widened.

'i hope you know i'm smiling for you!'

'good luck, kirishima!' oh, how he loved the way she said his mane.

once the fight began, y/n slowly leaned over to her mother.

"mom," y/n whispered in her ear.

"what's wrong?" she whispered back.

"that's him. the redhead. that one's mine"

y/n's mother turned to her daughter with wide eyes that already had tears building up. she smiled at her daughter and pulled her into a hug, petting her head as they both watched kirishima fight against his equal.

the bakugos, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on and tried their best to focus on the match.
