[NEWJEANS // DAERIN]
Danielle cracked open her eyes, still exhausted even as the sun rose. She forced herself up, reaching for her phone to check for missed messages to see that Hanni had texted her a couple hours ago.

Seeing as though Hanni didn't answer, the older girl had fallen back asleep.
Danielle weakly chuckled to herself, staring with a hint of longing at her lockscreen.
It wasn't the picture that captivated her, but the time.
Monday, January 1
A part of her wished that she could spend New Years with her friend group as a whole, or at least with Haerin...
She had heard fireworks go off right before she fell asleep the night before, which didn't help her heart in longing for a certain someone to watch the firework show with.
She sighed, trying to ignore the thought as she got ready to go outside.
'Please wake up soon Haerin...'
She went outside, greeting her parents who seemed relieved that she seemed much better after a night's worth of sleep.
"Is Hyein not outside yet?"
"No she isn't..."
Danielle went back down the hall after hearing that, gently knocking on the other bedroom door.
"Hyein?"
...
...
...
She slowly opened the door, her face falling at what she saw.
The younger girl was sitting in the middle of the bed, hugging the teddy bear Danielle had gotten Minji for her birthday years ago.
She stared aimlessly in front of her, barely acknowledging that Danielle had come in.
"Morning unnie..."
Danielle frowned, "good morning Hyein-ah... Come on, let's eat some breakfast before we head back."
Hyein shook her head, hugging the bear tighter, "I'm not hungry."
"Hyein..."
Danielle walked over, lending a hand to the girl who finally met her eyes with a lost stare.
"Minji wouldn't want to see you like this, and neither do I. Please eat something, come on, Mom made tteok-guk."
Hyein reluctantly took Danielle's hand, gently letting the bear go before standing up. Neither of them let go of each other as they headed to the kitchen.
"Good morning, Hyein-ah."
"Good morning..."
The table was silent besides the slight noises of plates being moved and utensils being used, and although neither girls were very hungry, they still finished their food.
